Prosecutors detail Oath Keepers’ mounting frustration with Trump as Jan. 6 approached — POLITICO

The things that come up in these trials & investigations…

It does not surprise me at all that T back tracked, strattled the fence and essentially threw them under the bus…
    That IS his nature…his M.O.
It’s ALL about HIM and doing everything to CYA.
    The ultimate narcissist. A megalomaniac.

While they were delusional and chose to believe T & his cronies. (coming to a prison near you!)
They are notorious for bad decisions anyway.
Destined to be imprisoned for stupidity.

Come on, take over a government & nation??? Geez.

Stewart Rhodes questions NPD Trump's inactions.

Asks whether or not NPD Trump has balls (sounds like a rhetorical question to me, & probably to him).

Goes through with the planned invasion anyway.

    Duh!

Jan. 6 panel subpoenas Trump, demanding historic testimony

A fairly long read, but pretty thorough.

I can see NPD Trump choosing to ignore the subpoena, or engaging in a legal battle of attrition (Jan 05, 2023, isn't that far away). The Committee will have to decide whether or not to charge him with Contempt of Congress. That certainly sounds like a risk NPD Trump would take.

The Committee could pull the ultimate chickenshit move by doing nothing while waiting for its disolvement on Jan 05, 2023.

Now it's my turn to be the optimistic one: NPD Trump flagrantly refuses to comply with the subpoena, & gets charged with Contempt of Congress.

    But overall, yes,

Trump drops attorney-client claims over Mar-a-Lago documents

Yet MORE smoke & mirrors.
"Don't look at the man behind the curtain!"
Distract, delay, decoy, obfuscate, lie, misdirect, spin, exaggerate, split hairs, cloud, confuse, muddy, etc and so on...

You'd THINK pros like the DOJ, Congress, the Courts, the media and more...all would have figured it out by now.

Even IF (and there IS) a mass official & unofficial conspiracy of MAGA radicalized ultra-right insiders and allies are doing ALL they can to assist.
Give bias, benefit of the doubt and more to aid T. (including many said pros in the groups above)

    But, NOPE...they all act surprised.
Duped yet again by obvious and unsubtle tactics and plays.

    America is the sucker here.
Can't say we're all so "sophisticated and intelligent" anymore.
look in the mirror, US the sucker born this minute is you.

    More legal slithering by Trumpites.

Meadows Ordered to Testify in Georgia Election Investigation

^ NY Times article. No paywall when I read it.

This is great example of why we need the DOJ involved. The subpoenas being issued to have teeth; the penalties for ignoring them need to be painful.

There is a potential issue with federal convictions. A Repub POTUS could issue pardons should any of the snakes ACTUALLY be convicted.

Inside a Deadly Siege: How a String of Failures Led to a Dark Day at the Capitol (Published 2021)

    ^ Hopefully no paywall.

I came across this doing some reading today. It's an older article, with content that is still relevant. More has since been revealed about the lack of concern, incompetence, bureaucratic chain-of-command issues, and of course the denying and finger pointing.

    Someone should've said,
"Fuck your "bad optics." Set up barricades and place armed troops around the Capitol Building."

A Judge Just Ruled That There Is ‘Ample Evidence’ Of ‘Conspiracy’ Between Rudy Giuliani And The Trump Campaign In Georgia

    Ample evidence...
Yet it despite this, it has taken the system a LONG time to discover it (easy pickings too, because T's cronies were sloppy)
And followup on it to prosecute and get into the courts.

Meanwhile, because we haven't taken T, Giuliani and the MAGA mob down, they are about to allow the GOP a win, putting them back into HUGE influence.
Which will hinder, block, obfuscate, defund, vote against, muddy waters and ANYTHING they can do to stop justice.
If anything, just because it makes the party look bad and it will hurt the Dems and other opposition.
BUT it sets up MORE conspiracy and corruption - both possible and intentional.

And yet again, American voters, cut off their noses despite their faces, voting in thugs, just because peeps are pissed about inflation.
And Dems have STILL not truly taken anyone down fully. Leaving the cockroaches. like Giuliani, to shit all over the kitchen...AGAIN.
This is why we can't have nice things.

    Where is JUSTICE?
    Why so LONG?
    How has America gone WRONG?

With scum like Giuliani out & about, our boat sinks that much faster.
I guess this is how empires fade.
Corruption within and no one deals with it fast enough.

I wonder which side of this coin toss of Fate this will go?
Rot takes down the tree...or the tree somehow survives with a scar or break as part of its character.

Oh, America has been here before, and survive, event thrived after.
The Civil War, The Depression, Nixon, etc...
    But what's the cost? :(

Frankly, I just don't understand how people can ignore & allow AMPLE evidence of corruption, from even outright clowns, like Giuliani, to go on.
    And vote against their interests.

I guess many of us are just led by the nose. THIS what scammers and corrupt rely on.
Neglect, ignorance and ineffective action.
Those like Giuliani thrive and survive on it...like a cockroach on your food in the dark.

We, generally speaking, have (de)evolved into a society where:

Lying about the wrongs we've committed is acceptable.

Getting away with wrongs is admirable.

Refusing to take responsibility for our actions is common.

Being part of a group helps justify the above actions.

Remaining silent in the best (in)action.

Covering for others to avoid consequences is the modus operandi.

Expecting others to remain silent and cover you.

Or to put it it succinctly. "Things my mama told me never to do" .

Then again, I've always said T is everything my mom taught me NOT to be as a good person.
    He's scum.
    He's always been scum.
Even BEFORE my teens, I knew he was scum. (just look at his fuckin' tower...gilded and corrupt, period - no taste at all - this is what I thought at 10 yo )

And this is why I do NOT understand how anyone could support him. It IS obvious & apparent how crude he is.
Hell he's Frank Gallagher personified and with LOTS of $$$ (all saved from Frank's many scams too)
Only difference, is he's not a raging alcoholic or druggie...just a raging egomaniac and he doesn't murder. (so not like Tony Soprano)
AND he's NOT as smart as either character...just cunning and audacious.

He's gets away with it because he's a good talker, no fear IF he won't get caught and he has balls the size of Manhattan.
Many people it turns out have a HORRIBLE judge of character.
It's like a bunch of Jr. High students...

What amazes me is how NPD Trump has brought nearly every undesirable human trait to surface, and made them acceptable.

By acceptable I include silent consent. Many Repub politicians aren't stupid enough to openly support NPD Trump's more questionable actions (some are), but they will support him quietly and vote accordingly.

Garland names Jack Smith special counsel for Trump criminal probes — POLITICO

    Ooo, where my popcorn!! :D

Actually, this could go 2 or more ways.

    1. Proven…but ain’t nothin’ gonna happen
    2. Gets politicized like the Clinton affair.
    3. Nothin’ proven, meh
    4. Proven but politically undermined by the screaming GOP.
    5. And so on…

    Now, whomever gets it
Their team will have a LOT of upfront investigation by multiple entities both known AND unknown (or at least not advertised or posted in the news)
So it will help it be proven.

    But…
    Will the SP aggrandize himself
Will they control the narrative vs the facts?

So many variables…both good and bad.

Hope they come to some good productive and justice oriented conclusion
Unlike the Clinton investigation or the JFK panel

AND they do it at a brisk pace to prevent the orange Jabba the Hutt from doing more damage.
Because they “could” do the job right
    But it lingers FOREVER.
    Like it is now

Full interview: Former Vice President Mike on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan" - CBS News

CBS broadcast the interview. Yes, Mike Pence said the Jan 06 Committee has no right to his testimony.

Pence claims to be a Christian. Like most Christians -- AND followers of other religions -- he has no problem twisting the definition of lying.

It's time for the DOJ to issue
    subpoenas that have real teeth.
    Drag people into hearings.
Hold people in contempt of court.
    Put people in jail.

But lying has become modus operandi (the Democrats aren't off the hook), either outright, twisting the truth, or a long time favorite, selective memory.
