The last film that you watched

    Restrepo

After about a year or two, I finally remembered the film, and took the afternoon to watch it.
There is something to be said about it's nature to be a 'real' film (not entirely heavy, yet still grounded).

To contrast - in addition, the other recent viewing I partook in was, perhaps, the polar opposite in the documentary-style genre, thus being: Catfish

    Both were worth the while.
Neither film can be reviewed through a single word or sentence - they need to be taken in as a whole, and through a curtain of relative unknowing (to better appreciate the product).

Watching The Boondock Saints for the first time. Seeing Ron Jeremy was not what I expected at all, and hearing Norman Reedus with an very well done Irish accent completely different from the southern accent he uses in The Walking Dead is an even bigger treat.

I saw Restrepo about a year ago, and I still think about it, so it definitely made an impression.

I watched Crazy on the Outside last night on Netflix. I thought it was well done and enjoyed it very much.

The Hunger Games on Saturday. It was ok. I haven't read the books so I wasn't sure what to expect. It seemed perverse to me and it saddened me to see yet a another vision of the future for the human race so divided and hopeless...but that was just the first book/movie.

Have not seen the film or touched the books, but my impression of the story just from seeing tidbits of it at work mainly is that it is looks damn similar to The Running Man. And I mean the excellent novel, not the ok action film that is great for what it is but cannot be compared to or ranked with the source novel on any serious level.

The Expendables 2. While a good actioner, the jokes got old fast. It would have been better if Chuck Norris had been killed, painfully. Not as good as the first, but worth watching for all the flying blood and chopped off heads.

    ** I don't like Chuck Norris

DAKA DOING VERY NICELY, THANK YOU

I agree on the Intouchables, and Cinema Paradiso....(the long version...ortherwise don't bother) these are what I like to call FILMS rather than movies....another one is Salmon Fishing in the Yemen....a film....oh, and one of my new favorites is Midnight in Paris, when you watch and can pick out the places you've seen to it is much more enjoyable....

We watched District 13: Ultimatum and The Replacements the other night in an action film binge. It was satisfying. District 13: Ultimatum is a fantastic movie, and it's on Amazon streaming.
