There are Hispanic spanish-speaking immigrants (with limited English upon arrival) in virtually every state.

You want to do away with data and you want to assume things? That's a dangerous mix.

You have to dig deeper in the data to find out the significance of something. If the Republican voting population of whites trends higher, there is probably a reason for that. If Democrats clean house with non-whites, there is probably a reason for that. It could be a fluke. It's not all racism, but isn't it about race? Do you think it's a fluke? Either way, why do you think it's irrelevant?

Yeah, like multiple categories of demographics. Or you could just guess stuff... Does that have meaning for you?

Why do i constantly have to repeat what I write? I know you did not directly. expressly equate white voters with racism. I did not say you did. However, if you know it or not, implicit in commentary on these points of data is that the Republican party is becoming a more racist party. These backdoor-like accusations gets a bit irritating to me and I wish the real points could be addressed and that we stop dancing around the issue. Discussing race does not make me uncomfortable - my directness often puts people off balance initially.

I used the word obsolete on purpose. I believe in the past our nation had issues with some wanting to prevent others (of different nationalities for example) from certain services and rights and they had the power to make a big difference. Today, our systems are not dependent on gate-keepers who have that kind of power. For example it is very simple to translate any digital document into any common language in seconds. Why does a bureaucrat in government need to know how many time a brochure is translated into Farsi - I would suggest that it is useless information. However, regarding complexity of various government programs that is a problem for all of us and a law requiring simple and common language would be a good thing.

I said I would accommodate the people - meaning doing what is reasonable to make the process simple and as streamlined as possible. Perhaps that mean one thing on one boarder and another on a different boarder. The point is efficiency not a one-size fits all mentality.

If you believe raising the issue of a White voters declining as percent of total voters is "backdoor-like accusations"..take it up with Jeb Bush, Condi Rice, and numerous other Republicans who have expressed that concern.

You still havent explained how to provide any resources to non (or limited) speaking immigrants if you dont know who they are and/or where they reside.

Ace is a symptom of the reason I left the Republican Party. I was upset when they started using the term "intellectual", previously used for the leadership of the GOP, as an insult. It has taken it's natural evolution to turning away from studies and theories based in testable terms to blind ideology. Ideology mixed with theology, in where any evidence that contradicts the ideology must be wrong instead of adapting the logic to fit with new knowledge or shifts in the landscape.

    An example of said landscape:

    1984 Reagan
525 Electoral Votes, 59% white vote, 9% black vote, 35% hispanic

    2012 Romney
206 Electoral Votes, 59% white vote, 6% black vote, 27% hispanic

Clearly you can see the percentages changed almost none, yet the electoral changed drastically. The landscape has changed, and instead of having the intellectual malleability to adapt what is left of the GOP will only dig in and double down. They are more interested in continuing the No True Scotsman debate. If only we could find a real conservative, we'll win!

I am not assuming anything. I believe race classifications are obsolete, that they have no purpose, serve no value. I believe that my view is supported by DNA science. Yes, I want to do away with race based classifications. What do you want, to add more. It is ironic, there used to be three - now they have things like Caucasian Hispanic - what the heck is that? Why is it different than a European Caucasian? What is the value in the difference? How is it important?

I am saying what Republican voters have in common are policy views, on outlook, on philosophical approaches to issues.

I think the Democrat Party makes a special effort to market their views based on race and ethnicity or identity politics (who you are). I think the Republican Party often concedes this to the Democrats. I prefer a political precess based on policy or what you think. Democrats do a disservice to the nation in my opinion and the last thing I want is for Republican to play this game.

You bet I will, when I get a chance. I sent Rice a few emails over the years, she has never responded. I would love for her to run for President and would be the first to let her know how we disagree on some things - I think we would have good discussions. I don't like J Bush - I think he is too political, too PC for my liking - I think discussion with him would be b.s. focused.

If they came to me speaking a language I don't understand I would use SIRI on my Iphone as a start, to firgure out what language it was, then I would.......it is 2013 isn't it, not 1913?

Write a letter to Marco Rubio as well..for giving the Republican response to the State of the Union in both English and Spanish.

    I believe we're heading into another meta-argument.

Oh, I thought you were assuming redux implied racism with what he was saying about white voters. Do you have evidence? If so, will you please present it?

There are no distinctions between races? Will you please demonstrate how DNA science shows demographic data regarding race is obsolete and has no purpose? Do you think this is simply about biology?

No. Not unless it would be helpful.

I dunno. Culture maybe? It depends on the individual. This is a broad question.

You look for commonalities at the expense of distinctions? Should we do away with other categories such as wealth, age, and gender too? Maybe just keep track of the living vs. the dead?

The problem is that you think this is a game. Identity and ideology and how they interact isn't a game. It's called human behaviour. It's kind of a big deal.

You know...for a party claiming that it doesn't want to be the "Party of No",
they're doing a pretty damn good effort of saying NO.

And now another blocking maneuver by our lovely GOP,
    Senate Republicans filibuster Hagel nomination

So, they're threatened by the primary...but will end up losing in the general election.
Because most of the nation is friggin' tired of all the cock-blocking...which the GOP is getting most of the attention for.

Ok, everybody in Congress say a really nice word...all-together now...
    "Productive"

    ooo...that sounds pretty.

If you do not know there is an implicit argument in the current discussion about Republicans being a party of old white men that the Republican Party is becoming increasingly racist that is your issue. It is not an assumption. If it appeared that I assumed DC knowingly is promoting this, he has my apology - I am not assuming he is knowingly doing it. Regardless if he is knowingly doing it or not, it should end or we should put it on the table and discuss it.

If you can define race, we can proceed. If you can not, you are not talking about racial based differences but some other type of basis for difference - which is it.

Again, I do not understand you. It appears you do not understand me.

I am curious, what is the important characteristic in your mind and why?

People who will pay to see a Tyler Perry movie or black people?
Men who chew tobacco or Southern white men?

Ace...given that you dont want to understand, l think we should just make all immigrants and their children check their language and culture at the border and pledge allegiance to the flag, playing baseball, eating apple pie, going to the gun range on Saturday and church on Sunday.

Who needs diversity. It brings nothing to the country.

Actually, if you make a claim that is rejected, it's up to you to demonstrate how the evidence supports the claim (read: it's your issue; not mine). You have failed to do this.

I view race as having distinctions related to biology, history, culture, language, etc. I also view race as having different implications depending on socio-economic and geopolitical matters. In other words, I don't simplify or overlook what is rather complex and measurable.

I am pretty sure the above illustrates how absurd your responses to my posts are. I am guessing your next post is going to be a plea to stop this line of discussion.
    --- merged: Feb 15, 2013 at 2:40 PM ---
    Which claim has been rejected?

What is it that makes someone "black"? What is it that makes someone "white"?

How about you don't even try to answer those questions - I am going to move on, there is nothing to discuss. If you do want to get serious, let me know.

The one we'll stop talking about.

They're questions irrelevant to the topic anyway.

And I wanted to be serious from the start. My first mistake was trying to help you understand how demographics works and how it's used. As someone well-versed in both marketing fundamentals and cultural theory, I understand it from both sides of the coin. Though I can see how it would be misunderstood by the uninitiated.

It's not necessary to understand demographics to continue in this thread. There are many things wrong with the GOP. We'll just wait for the next news piece. I just love the 24/7 news cycle.

And now liberal columnists of the Washington Post cheering on the RATIONAL Republicans.

    The whole world is topsy-turvy.
Next thing you'll know, the Pope will resign (oh what? wait...)
Ok, the next thing you know, Trump will shave his head. (ok, ok...I'll be realistic with my fantasy)
Ok, the next thing you know, the Congress will actually act BEFORE it becomes a crisis...or media circus. (how's that??)

Anyways, this is what I'm screaming about...simply I don't care what's "liberal" or "conservative"
Not what's "ours" or "theirs"...I only want thought, not positioning...cooperation, not obstructionism...action, not cowardly absentee on votes.

    Friggin' do your job.

Another reason why a two party system is a flawed system. With more parties, there is room for nuance.

Yes, I would agree with you...and there's nothing against it by law or Constitution,
but it's been very rare for us to have more than 2 here in America. Why? I don't know.
But when another emerges and if it gains true power...the other fades, implodes or otherwise.
    It is kind of strange.

It always seems as if the alternative parties can never get unwacky enough to gain momentum.
Mostly you'll get Independents...but they seem to mostly caucus with the Dems. Although I have seen otherwise, it's not the typical trend.
Greens are rare...Libertarians are the next "legit", but they go overboard often. Rand Paul, a GOP member has been clamoring for them lately.

I like the Libertarian concepts taken in moderation, the difficulty is those that emerge tend to go more to the extreme ideals.

Americans I think, don't have tolerance for extreme views...for as wacky as our candidates get, they don't usually make it past the general election.
So they'll usually vote for the easy status-quo, thinking they can deal with the lesser of evils.

Europe tends to come up with more diverse parties, but theirs are more parliamentary systems usually.
Much more dynamic, their elections are fast, much more power-sharing.
America's elections are long and expensive, this weeds out the outliers over time.

Even now, there is no true replacement to the GOP, except perhaps the Tea-Party or Libertarian...but they keep putting up "un-electable" people.
