Sounds like he might need some Certified Angus Beef ® brand Prime steaks for those meds.

Poor Stanley. I'm sure it doesn't help that it's a crummy day here too. Maybe tomorrow will be nice and sunny and he can lay in the shadow of his master's gigantic dome.

I grabbed the wrong bottle of Heinz 57 and discovered this kind has anchovies in it...AFTER I'd eaten my sandwich. Also, my frozen broccoli "in butter sauce" was awful. :( :(

    Fuck it. I'm eating Cheetos.

  10. Does hip dysplasia run in his breed? I think he's a Bernese, correct? If so, it does. Along with other similar type of ailments.

    Throw him a steak tonight.

    Does he like bourbon?

Shockingly (ok, I know, it's not shocking) I have some leftover Porterhouse that I brought home for him the other day and hadn't given him. Too much food in the early course so there is quite a bit left.

I cut about half of it up for him, snuck a leftover carprofen in there from the last time he needed meds, and he's a happy camper. Hopefully a couple doses fixes him up.

He's a Bullmastiff. Both of his parents have clean scans, are mature adults without any dysplasia, and he's been checked twice (once as a puppy, once about a year ago) and come back with flying colors. But about once every 9-12 months he seems to overdo it and have a slight limp for a day or two. Usually it's one of his front shoulders and it goes away after 2-3 days of no walks and carprofen or similar. We've had all his joints x-ray'd and they've all come back tight and in good shape. We have been slacking on giving him glucosamine though, and that seems to be a good preventative, so we started that up again a couple days ago. He's actually pretty active and does a lot of tearing around the house/yard playing chase or fetch for a dog his size and age (he'll be 4 in June), so it's probably on us to limit his activity more than he'd like. He still acts like he did at about 13-16 months, wanting to play several times a day. But realistically, he's starting to reach middle age for his breed, so we need to make him take it a bit easier.

See above for the steak. ;)

I've offered him a sip of beer a few times and he's always declined, so I'm guessing bourbon is out too.

  18. I love how everyone is all worried about Stanley, but if Borla had leg pain, nobody would care.

The first question would be "That sounds bad! How is Stanley doing? Do you need someone to take him while you recover and/or possibly die of a serious injury or disease?"
