Ok, the knee recovery thing is now officially old.
2 more months of this

I'm healing fast but I can't push it.

Keep repeating - I'm doing this to be better, to be active.

As some of you may know, I have been working at a bank the past almost 3 years. I was away this afternoon because on two days each week I pick my girls up from school. Each week I alternate either taking them directly home or bringing them back to work for an hour or two and they do homework in a spare office or play outside. This week was taking them home. While I was away the branch was a victim of a takeover robbery. Guns drawn and everything. No one was hurt, fortunately. I am going to have to find out something else to do with my kids until school is out now. And of course my poor coworkers are pretty shaken up by having to go through this bullshit. I'm bothered by it and I was not even there.

That gives a new meaning to "Anything interesting happen while I was out?".

To add insult to injury today, the Denver area schools are closed today due to a credible threat of a young Florida woman who has flown out to Colorado and immediately purchased a shotgun and ammunition. She is apparently obsessed with Columbine. So my girls cannot go to school today and I have to drop them off with their mom.

I've been working hard to try and play some of the ViolinCaprices by Niccolo Paganini. I was about to give up and just admit that they were beyond my capabilities, and probably always would be. Then I decided that I could produce a redacted version. Much easier!:D

It's crazy, especially for accomplished players, but practice is all it takes. I had that mental block, thinking I'd peaked/hit a plateau I'd never conquer, but after many evenings of drilling it just suddenly clicked. Keep hitting the woodshed and don't back off the metronome.

  7. Still depressed. Looked for a therapist again and couldn't find anyone I like.

Wonder if it's possible to just snap out of this rather than get assistance.

I think one of my problems is that I'm a private person. I don't like sharing anything personal...at all.

Not trying to make light of your conundrum, just sharing an image I recently saved from teh intrawebz because it seems succinct -

That might be one reason you are depressed. ;)

You might be able to find a self-help book though that can give you some advice. Although if you know the reasons you are depressed, there might be some other strategies for helping to improve those issues.

There are also the on-line therapists now too. They might seem a lot more anonymous.

I have five dental appointments scheduled this month. Apparently crowns and fillings don't last a lifetime. Plus, bruxism.

Right now, all the holes and gaps in my teeth constantly distract my tongue.

I'm hoping that by the 4th of July, my teeth will be perfect again.

I am having dental problems too. But, it will be interesting to see if the root infection is cured if my high blood pressure would go away.

  15. Thanks. I'm pretty sure I've overthought the online listener/therapy solution. I'd look thru the reviews and get discouraged from the negative comments. Even though there are more positive than negative.

I'm pretty burnt out from work and school. Just reached 50 percent completion of my doctorate and it's been hell. I have a vacation coming up next month so I'm HOPING that will help. Burn out is never fun. Thanks for the listen.

If I may offer some advice... don't fill your "vacation" days up with so much stuff to do that you don't have any relaxing downtime.

Double that. Vacation should be rest and play, nothing else. Focus on recharging, but avoid any and all pressure.

Private person here. It took me a long, agonizing time to find and then call for help, but therapy is helping. It's private and constructive. Meds help too, but didn't do the job on their own.

    Allright BITCHING AND COMPLAINING.
Not that anyone gives a shit but, do you realize that BREAD (probably other than BOND or Wonder) cost about $4.00 a loaf? There are about 15 slices so its 27 cents a slice? Bagels from a "real" bagel bakery are over $1.00 each......when did that happen?
I'm an OLD GUY (really old) so I remember the old prices....
The other day a friend of mine has a slight accident with his car, just a minor rener bender...one front fender, the headlight was over $800 alone, over $2,200 for the repair...and they didn't change the actual fender!
    WTF is happening...
Gotta stop looking a prices.....just buy the shit we need....
(reading the above, maybe I need DRUGS)
