A bayou runs through the area where we live. In one section near a major highway several--as in quite a few--cars were found submerged. The Houston Police Chief, who is a certified dullard, went on record saying pulling them from the bayou wasn't worth the expense. He deservedly caught some shit for that bit of excessive stupidity.

A private group, possibly associated with well known search group, had the cars removed. As expected they had been stolen. Not expected but not a surprise, one contained the body of a murder victim.

My experiences with VW America in general, and two VW dealership service departments, were extremely negative. There are detailed posts here on TFP.

Too many of the "Corporate" entities just don't give a damn...SAMSUNG is another one.
My 2 year old Overstove" unit decided to turn itself on one afternoon while we were not home, we returned to find the unit running and VERY VERY HOT.
After much communication, they claimed that my unit was a non USA....purchased at BEST BUY??
I happened to mention this to a few salespeople at HOME DEPOT when I was looking to buy a new one, they said they have heard this happening...
    GOOD BUY SAMSUNG YOU SUCK....

There are reasons why I've never bought a new car.:D
See above. I like to avoid playing with snakes.

My only contacts with dealers have been:

Getting an extra key programed and "married" to the car. SAAB dealer. Cost about $125
Various safety recalls for my 'o6 Accord. Honda dealer. Promptly performed at no charge and no effort to up-sell me on anything.:)
I've mostly used local garages or independent specialists. Walmart for tires and batteries.

Out of all the dealership company we've dealt with for purchases, they've been the best. But, they rolled out the emissions fix with out appropriate preparation of the techs. The exhaust pressure sensor failed and had to be ordered, even after another part had to be ordered. This one is coming from Toronto. So, the 9 hour job from Wednesday is now resulting in me still driving a stupid Jetta with half the fuel economy for the next 7 days. The service people at the actual dealership are pretty great and they all feel bad. I have to go get my chargers, garage fob, and several things I'll need for the weekend and next week, since I thought I'd be picking the car up the same day. It's fucking annoying that they didn't prepare the people being asked to do the modifications.

First time I ever rooted for a German-speaking country to win Eurovision (would have taken Estonia as well), but just ended up as another 'virtue signaling' victory. Same bullshit as when Ukraine won.

On a related noted: Fucking died at how poorly Australia did. :D

    Sometimes...nothing's wrong...nothing bad happened...
But you just feel out of sorts...uncomfortable.

Not sick, not depressed, not angry
Just don't want to deal with anyone or anything...even if a thing is great, tempting and what you want.

I'm having one of those times.
    Whatever.

In my desperate search for any half-way decent Asian food in Germany, I finally caved and decided to try out the WeightWatcher's Thai Green Curry. Why not, given everything else was utter shit.

Color me fucking shocked at how much closer to the real deal this is than most of the Thai restaurants I've tried in this country (many).

And that at approx. $4 compared to the roughly $18 those places charge.

Not even gonna get into the $100 I spent on sushi for 2 at a super highly rated Japanese place just to get some average as hell sushi that I'd buy for $5 at any takeaway in Sydney on the regular commute to work - I'd be sitting here, writing a fucking novel.

Fuck me sideways Germany, get your act together.

During my two visits to the UK--England and Scotland, then just Scotland--I was surprised by the number of Indian and Chinese restaurants.

I think it had much to do with the traditional cuisine of England and Scotland.

Ascension: Bad writing, worse acting, and the couple consisting of budget Ryan Gosling and budget Jennifer Gartner don't help either. The show has an interesting setting... what a shame.

I'm pretty new to Netflix, so the amount of garbage SciFi shows on there is still a surprise to me.

Some of the movies are just so unbelievably bad, some with "big name" actors Morgan Freeman..comes to mind on one that I watched for 20 minutes hoping it would get "watchable" but no....
And NETFLIX doesn't let you know if a movies is in English...sometimes till they SPEAK..15 fucking minutes of Dutch...or whatever...

Not a big movie fan, but I do know that "big name" does not necessarily equate with big talent.

John Travolta (nice guy, mediocre actor), and Tom Cruise (asshole, makes a fortune doing action films that require little or no acting talent).
