God I really hate staffing agencies....they are so annoying. Mind I am a recruitment manager...but oh dear.......they just see money signs in their eyes...and then mindless executives feel the need to push more of them at me to manage. Just fucking go away! I literally started a new job and had over 75 people 'reaching out' to me trying to extract business with the new change of management....just NO.

Work is making me nervous. 2 weeks and 2 more 20 year employees fired for little to nothing. No suspension or even a warning. Just hauled to HR and then escorted out. The manufacturing side is brutal. Tomorrow I'll be posting for a QA job opening. The worst part of it all, is the other guys. Talking shit about the 3 guys that were fired or the others that quit. I'm listening to them and it makes me shake my head side to side. And I think " really? Just last week you were his friend. "

We were all called to a shop meeting 6 months ago. Any person cooperating with the aerospace union will be fired. Period. I'm more interested in my personal survival than being a martyr for the rest of the crew that could care even less about me. Like me to my face and shit talk about me when I'm not around.

I have the imprint of the doorknob of my office right near my kidney. Because 9 year olds are assholes when they throw two year old tantrums. For 40m.

    I won.

Popeye, I've seen this behavior many times. Folks who are normally nice go into survival mode, they'll do anything including stabbing 'friends' in the back to keep their job. Part of is denial and rationalization. If they can rationalize why others get fired, it helps them deny the fact it could happen to them. It's really eye-opening to see it happen, makes you question if you have any real "friends" at work.

There you go, survival mode (and I'm not picking on you, everyone has a survival instinct). Being The One Guy Willing To Try would be a tough, with no guarantee that others would join together to support you. I'm pretty sure that OK--like TX--makes it very tough for folks to win a wrongful dismissal lawsuits. Maybe the folks fired could try a class action suit.

As for the company Talk-Union-Get-Fired policy, that's illegal. And it sounds as though the company has been very open about that policy, which would make a lawsuit easy (but not easy to win).

The problem with lawsuits is they frequently drag on forever. The legal system favors the parties who know how to manipulate it, such as the attorneys with experience representing businesses. Even if a large national union got involved, they might back down if threatened with attempts to further weaken the union. Unions do not have the power they did say 35 years ago, Raygun pretty much castrated them. It doesn't help that the political climate in many states favors businesses, the bigger the business the better. And you can bet that Trump will try to load the Supreme Court with pro-business justices.

Those relationships were so good to me and critical to my networking success for helping people move to other jobs and help me find other opportunities and stay ahead of the skill and management fads.

Make friends and keep them for years.

That tells you the type of person they are.

It's interesting to see the various reaction at a job when someone leaves, for whatever reason. IMO you can tell a lot about a person by how they talk about others once they feel the other person won't have a chance to rebut or defend themselves.

That's why I'm quiet and respectful when someone leaves. Nice working with them, no negative comments or overtly superlative positive ones. I liked working with them and that's about it.

@Borla, in general I agree with you in normal job situations.

But.....IME normally good people turn ugly (not everyone, but many) in negative work environments (situations where people are very much scared of losing their jobs, even to the point of paranoia, for very real reasons). And the more they need the job (large family, single mom, lack of education, older workers, lack of marketable skills, very poor job market, considerable debt, etc.) the worse it can be.

I've never seen such incompetence.

There's a reason they're going bankrupt and closing down all the mid-atlantic stores.

I can't sleep, it's almost 10pm. Too many thoughts, my mind won't leave me alone. My EX DNL, which I had reason to believe, was snuggled away safely in prison, called me direct tonight, twice. Oklahoma is bankrupt and forced releases, she is now in a half way house 30 minutes away in the next town to my North. She wants to have visitation with her Son. I could go into all the reasons why this is a bad situation, I'm not. I knew this day was coming. What is hurting me? The emotional damage this will in doubt inflict on my GS. I've been doing damage control for almost 2 years. His self esteem is at it's best. He knows he's loved, I've been demonstrative in everyway I could. Involving him in all aspects of a good life. I cook meals for him. Bathe him, help him brush his teeth. Read age appropriate books for learning and entertainment. Hockey and baseball games, involve myself in his pre k learning center. Including financial donations. You get the idea. I've turned his life around, he has a stable base. He KNOWS he can count on me. I'm his security. All it will take is one visit with his mother to turn his world and subsequently mine upside down. And sideways. My sacrifices for him will be of no importance. I guess that's why it's called sacrifice. You get nothing in return. I can see the result of the end of the first visit. He will cry for hours. He will want, naturally, to stay with her. And my heart will hurt for him. Everything for him is heading in the right direction. I know what I have to do, I just don't want to do it.

Major mojo & positives thoughts sent.

Is there a way to deny her visitation rights? That's always difficult when it involves the birth mother.

If the court systems that favor the mother ever learned the complete story of one of my nieces (currently an involuntary guest of TDC) and her children....................

Honestly, @Chris Noyb I have 100 % custody, this is an emotional struggle of right and wrong. Morals and outcomes of my decisions.

My gut reaction, based on what you've posted, is deny her visitation. Yes, it's going to be tough on you and your GS (you'll be the mean hard ass), but it sounds as though the potential for damage is too high at his age under the current circumstances.
