I'm afraid Milky Way has ruined the way I read the word "regret" from now on after their recent commercial.
I now read it as "regert". I laugh to myself whenever I do it, but I may come to really regert it in the future.

Garage door opener has been wonky. A few months ago it started only reading signals from either remote (even with new batteries) from barely outside the door. It read the signal from my wife's car (programmed in to a button in her car) just fine. Several weeks ago it started not liking the remotes at all sometimes. About two weeks ago it started not liking the button on the wall occasionally. The last few days it occasionally stopped liking my wife's car's signal as well. Earlier this week my wife had to use the emergency pull once to shut it when she was leaving for work.

On the bright side, getting a new garage door opener (even a pretty decent 1.25hp one with remotes, keypad, and PC/Smartphone access), complete with installation, was much less than I expected it to be. I was guessing $200-300 for the unit and $300ish for installation. Instead it is $375 installed. Not exactly what I want to spend $375 on, but at least it wasn't twice that.

One nail and a $160.00 tire later.......

If it was the vehicle I drive, it would get a plug & possibly a patch (the tire in question only has 10K miles).

Do you have Discount Tire down there?

They are pretty awesome when it comes to repairing/replacing tires. They typically will repair them for free, even if you didn't buy them there. I believe I posted about another experience I had with them several years ago where, because they couldn't find a matching tire for me (one unrepairable, AWD vehicle, almost new tires), they gave me an entire set of four tires for free. Technically they made me buy the air pressure sensors and pay disposal fees, so it was like $36, but they gave me about $1200 in tires while only charging me for that.......crazy stuff.

I second this. I had the same located tire replaced three times... Each one kept getting a nail in it. Within weeks. They'll prorate them, too, if you're changing type or style. They gave me a $600 credit on 4 dealer tires with about 10k on them when we were getting all-weathers for the move.

My dad likes to talk about the time when he was a dirt-poor hippy that he changed his own oil in VW Rabbit that he apparently didn't get the drain plug tight enough, and it worked its way loose on the highway, about half-way between Wichita and Albuquerque on old US54 highway. (I was about 5 or 6 years old, but I've heard this story so many times...) A loud bang and all of a sudden the whole back of the car was covered with oil, the motor was clattering, etc.

To make a long story a little shorter, he used a box cutter that happened to be in the car to cut a little branch off a volunteer sapling along a fence row, whittled it to the right size and pounded it into the drain hole. He added two quarts of oil and drove slowly to the next town where nothing was open and we pulled into the gas station to wait for it to open and all went to sleep.

Of course, the town cop came by (this is the middle of the night) wondered just what we were up to and after explanations, called the owner of the gas station, who came down at 4:00am and sold my dad three quarts of oil, and we were on our way. Bought a VW drain plug in Alb but (of course) then couldn't get the improvised plug out, so it stayed that way for about six months.

Of course, Dad could drag that story out to at least fifteen minutes...

My retarded son is driving me nuts. Tonight, when I walked in the door with his son in tow, he started in with how our President and the next are plotting against conservative Americans to dislocate and place them in some kind of internment camp operated by FEMA. The whole conspiracy theories thing is controlling his life. Civil unrest and the military will take control under martial law. We will be forced to work for the salvation of our lives and do it for free. As soon as I impart some common sense into the cconversation, that is now reeling out of control and sounding like the ramblings of a mad man, he uses my own words against me and I got confused. Then he pounced on me like some kind of power control trip. I ended up protecting or fighting or arguing my own point. Then I realized I had enjoyed and laughed at his ridiculousness until I was under fire and fighting for myself. I am happy that my choices were my own. ...voted twice for Mr Obama ( and believe that he truly cares ) I am tired of the whole America takes over the world and also falls into civil war bullshit. ..which is it? He keeps feeding me we are following Nazi Germany, going to change the dollar into something else and a New World Order will reign with The Clintons and Mr Obama rising as the World Leaders. Then of course there's the extention of half of the worlds population by some nefarious plan. Oh and all of this is due to the fact that the World Bank wants to destroy our economy and suppress the people and make us all lambs or ( Jews ) walking peacefully to the slaughter. Of course America can't do it alone, there are other countries involved in this conspiracy and willing to let America take the lead as it gasses it's own citizens. And let's not forget God and Armeggedon the world and all there in are F×××ED! He pushes and pushes and is willing to give himself over as a martyr just to prove he's right. I said " What will you do if they come for your guns? " He said " give them up and watch the trueth unfold. "I haven't hunted in years and I usually hunt with my Bear compound bow, so for my own safety and my grandsons I'm thinking tonight about selling the few guns I own. Wow life is so. ......

I've stopped believing in the best of people.
    My cynicism is complete.

I''l help when asked, but my faith has been torn.

My attitude is, I'll believe it when I see it.

My clients are breaking my heart this week. The betrayal they feel by members of their government is so pervasive. Especially the ones who aren't old enough to have had a definitive voice that those I'm charge will listen to. Racial explosion in Mt Greenwood over the weekend, suicide of a trans teen... This isn't even as much a complaint as a keening wail.
