    Randomness is an amazing thing.
    It can bring old friend back into your life and do stuff like this.

    Because you don't use AT&T. (Seriously, I really don't know. I've only ever used Virgin, who had a similar restriction at the time, and my current AT&T who were cool with a different phone--as long at it was from them.)

    It's awful when you think poorly of someone on a rather serious level and get told by everyone else that you are crazy. Then, a couple years later, it plays out that you were right all along. But no one stepped in to help before it was too late. Because, of course, all the bad things your gut and intuition told you were happening were dismissed until things turned tragic.

    Because I'm a Student (One class a term counts!) I get NFL Sunday Ticket for $25 a month and just watch it on my computer or with an app. I don't know what witchery DaddySquirrel does to get lots of channels for a pretty decent prices....

    F'ing S**T, our 14 month old 46" sharp SMART TV just kicked the bucket..2 months past the warranty, the set that it replaced was a SONY 15 years old that would not die.............I am F*****G PISSED AT SHARP.....NEVER AGAIN.

    This is why I still have my 36" Sony WEGA and 27" Trinitron. You will have to pry them from my cold dead hands. Both TVs are just about 20 years old and I don't expect them to die within another 20.

    Patience paid off. Called back two days later and got nowhere. Called back today and got transferred to someone who claimed, after looking at notes from my previous call, to have more authority than either of the two people I'd talked to. She walked through everything and made an offer for all the stuff the previous people had (Free NFL Sunday ticket, free regional sports channels, discount on HBO, etc.) AND agreed to knock $47 off my bill for the first 6 months and $40 off for the second 6 months if I agreed to stay for 12 more months.

    On my previous call I had given the rep I talked to a target price I wanted to be at. He said the lowest he could get to was $27/month above my target price, and he said he couldn't budge. Second rep said the same. The girl today got me $13/month below it for the next 6 months and $3/month below it for the final 6. :cool:

    Excellent negotiation. I'll have to add this "patience tactic" to my toolbox: a delay in date of termination (rather than a threat of immediate dismissal) and plenty of time to be persistent... yep, I like it. Good work.

    Basically, my DirecTV bill will be $594 lower (total, over 12 months) the next 12 months than it was the previous 12 months. And I will add the NFL Sunday Ticket and all the regional sports networks. All told I probably "wasted" an hour between the three calls. Not a bad ROI.

    Though I guess it is sad that it could be lowered $594/yr in the first place, eh?
