Entertainers should not be able to change their appearance so drastically that I can't recognize them. Damn you, Busta Rhymes.

Really not having a good day / week.

Left the key in the BMW last week, jump started it and let it run for 20 min or so to charge the battery. Bad idea, it seems. The engine got hotter than I've ever seen it and smelled like burning oil. It's been raining, so I hadn't driven it til today. I'm losing oil like crazy and the battery didn't hold a charge. I'm waiting for roadside assistance to jump the bike, then grab a qt of oil and hope like hell I can make it home.

Of course, this is likely a 2 week, 4 figure trip to the BMW dealer.

Did you jump it with a running car/truck?

Not sure how different our respective bikes' electric systems are, but I've been told not to jump start mine with a running auto. Trickle charge it off of the auto's battery with the auto off supposedly.

Hope it isn't as serious as you are guessing.

Hmm, I've jumped it a few times with no ill effects. This time was roadside assistance from a battery pack. 12v, negative ground, displacement equal to an economy car, never considered not doing it.

Best I can tell, it is leaking from an inner cylinder gasket. I'm guessing $50 gasket (because it's a BMW) with $1000+ labor.

Not sure if all bikes are the same, but I know HD recommends you not use an auto. I know of guys who have done it and been fine, but best case is to have it off. Not sure how the battery pack scenario is versus a running auto. If mine is going to go long stretches without riding it I put it on a tender, so I haven't had to...............yet.

Our company changes insurance every year. If it's not the carrier it's a different or modified policy and nobody gets them to pay. They have approved operations and then refused to pay. Coding error, now that guys getting collections. Insurance of any kind is something we pay and should never use or expect them not to screw us.

Our 2004 Highlander needs a needs a new control panel for the fan/AC/ heater/etc. That part alone is going to cost around $1,250.00.

And I've been told there might a refrigerant/freon leak in the AC system.

This is not a good time to be without AC in your vehicle.

Good news: The service rep called to say the AC didn't leak any freon overnight (they topped it off yesterday and used a dye to check for leaks).

Bad news: That doesn't mean it doesn't have a very slow leak. And the control panel won't be in until tomorrow.

Huge amount of data that I'm trying to be consistent with. Run analyses several times over now, using different statistical methods and software each time. Getting a bit peeved overall.

Adjusted my running form to try and break the plateau I hit at 7mph, it worked great as far as speed was concerned but my knee gave out half a mile in. I think it's the bloody IT band since it's always on the outside of only one leg. I'm too young to be arthritic dammit.

As much as I love to hate on R it's really good for that because you can code in loops and just swap in different datasets with the exact same functions. If it works.

I have zero desire to use R for this project. The data sets that I'm working with are small enough that there are other tools at my disposal. Unfortunately I'm starting to think that the limitations of the primary software that I'm using may make it necessary for me to use R. If they tell me that I need to use R on this project, after spending months dinking around using these other methods (that they claim to prefer), I will most likely throw in the towel. I'm pretty pissed at this point.

Here I'd thought we'd turned a corner on chores. Nope. One bad day at work and the new system goes kablooey. This does not bode well for the school year.

What is it you're trying to do and how are your current tools failing you? You might not have to, or it might be a lot easier than you'd think if there's a good package for it already.

Went to the chiropractor today and stopped in for a brutal upper body massage. The pain just won't stop and seems to be getting worse. Dosing with Aleve. Guess I will have to see my Doctor, maybe I tore something. Geez Lueez it hurts and makes it hard to sleep.

I've been craving super-salty things lately. Chips, ritz crackers, french fries. But I've also noticed that eating too much salt gives me a headache now. It's a stupid cycle. I need to up my water intake, I think.
