  3. The 'Quils and Zicam failed me all weekend so I broke out the allergy meds today. Still no relief. Didn't even knock me out like usual. That, at least, would have been something. You know those cartoons where the guy has puffy, watery eyes and his nose and it's surroundings are bright red? Yeah, that's me, with an unrelieved sinus headache to boot.:(

Have you talked to your doctor about Flonase or similar? It'll help a lot with the swelling in the sinuses.

  5. Was on it for a few years. A couple of snorts each night before bedtime. Then one night I developed an instant allergic reaction to it. My throat began to swell shut. Couldn't speak. Drove myself to ER.

I no longer use the stuff.

Yeah, that is one possible side effect, unfortunately. But that's true for a lot of medications--even antibiotics.

Poison sumac is spreading up my arms and down my legs. I had it one other time--got it in the Frederick countryside just like this time. It left scars then and now I have a breakout on top of the scars. Glad I'm not young anymore or I'd be really freaking out.

That must make for a long drive to the in-laws on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

  11. He found out today it is Stage 4. Decided to not pursue surgery, it would be extensive and disfiguring. Will have chemo & radiation. Frequently and in large doses.

Smoked for 30 years. Doesn't any longer.

Once again I made the mistake of studying too late. Now I am feeling sleepless and I have to be up at 5 for work. Sheesh.

Traffic at 0642 after flying a redeye is bullshit.

Brother, I feel for you. I really do. I hate redeye's with a passion, and I will do lots of things to avoid them. Traffic on top? Ugh.

I fucking love redeye flights. They make everything so much easier: Travel overnight, do your work straight after getting to your destination, and be back home a day earlier.

Never understood people who have sleeping issues on planes. The only parts of a flight I can't sleep are the first and last 45 during take-off and landing, respectively.

I used to sleep on planes all the time. The last time that happened, I'd been having a dream about crashing, and woke up to some wicked turbulence. I haven't slept on a plane since.

Sure, I can handle a term paper, two grant applications, a phone interview with one of my living idols, course readings by the end of next week. No problem!!! I suppose I should get some practice in? Throw it on!

LA to NYC is probably a lot shorter than you realize - only about 6 hours of flight time, which means that you're really only talking about 4 1/2 hours of sleep, and bad sleep at that. East to west is a little longer because of the jet stream, but my redeye flights are different than yours since the distances are less.

Hubs is entangled with IGOR this morning. He didn't come to bed until almost midnight last night. I kind of slept before he came to bed...kind of.

Actually, that's pretty close to what I usually fly. Dubai to Frankfurt/Munich/Amsterdam/Hong Kong are all between 7 to 8 hours of flight time. The only long-haul flights I ever do/did are Dubai to Sydney/Tokyo.

Get into the lounge, have a short nap, wake up to walk to the plane, have 1-2 beers and knocks me straight out until we're descending for landing.

Maybe I'm overly accustomed to it. Or maybe it's an age thing. I also heard people complain about flights within the US (SouthWest springs to mind).
