    Long day at work. Really tiring. So many idiots. Come home, sitter didn't straighten the house or wash dishes cause the wife didn't remind her to do it. House looks like a war zone. She can't stay to help, she has to go to class. I drop my briefcase and jacket in my office and go to the living to start picking up things...cat pooped on the couch. Cat walks up and purrs next to me...wife texts me and says she has to work late.... one of the kids starts screaming off in the other room.... another text....my professor reminding me that my Masters thesis is due cause grades need to go in early since I graduate next week.....first thing comes to my mind...."This has to be the twilight zone!"

    I was supposed to have a doctor's appointment for my annual today. They rescheduled as my doctor got called in to deliver a baby; meanwhile, my uterus is having a snit fit. WTF.

    Time for a new sitter. Any pro makes sure the house is ready for adults when they're done. I did personal childcare for many years and can't imagine leaving a house better than I found it.

    I had to do a factory reset on my phone after it kept having issues. I used an app to back up all of my texts to my External SD card. Or so I thought. I was completely devastated as there were conversations that I needed and years of my relationship with my husband, especially when I was gone for that year. Apparently, I was "overreacting". I found them backed up in Kies but it restored them to a different program, so I really thought they were gone. Took hours last night to get it situated so I could work today. I don't have a phone or anything at work, so I have to rely on my own technology. I got a very chilly response to my questions and stress last night. I don't know what I would do with most this piece of technology, which is the most central coordinator of all of my schedules, calendars, reminders, contacts, etc. I almost cried when I thought I'd lost all of that.

    I hate how people get all sensitive around the term socialist. I get the impression that many (especially in North America) don't really understand all that falls under the concept.

    A left-wing U.S. magazine called the Alberta NDP a "socialist party," and a user complained in a comment how they're "SOCIAL DEMOCRAT, not socialist" and that they're like the Labor Party and that someone should "do their research."

    Um, the federal NDP are affiliated with Socialist International, and the Alberta NDP have basically the same principles.

    Social democracy is, generally, a socialist ideology that seeks to integrate socialist ideals within a capitalist system. The British Labor Party is also affiliated with socialist organizations. I think the broader issue is that the term socialist is often used pejoratively in reference to the worst aspects of socialist history, ideals, and practices. The term itself is actually quite broad. To say social democrats aren't socialist is to take the "social" out of the term.

    It's like people are still caught in the Cold War.

    I was just wondering how many folks get, or don't get, the (I'm not telling) reference.

    Go right ahead. My days of being seriously passionate about politics (I have a minor in Political Science) are long over. And I do recognize rhetorical questions and statements ;).

    At least I still have a job (but I don't trust anyone anymore...they use people too much these days)
    And I still have one dog left (she's a saving grace)

    I think I'm at the part of the Kung Fu episode that the he's beaten up by the bad guys, near the climax
    when he remembers something his old master says, then kicks ass...

    Time for some Kung Fu

    Going through a refinance on my house. Staying with the same company, have perfect payment history.

    Supposed to be streamlined and easy (was for the most part). Closing is Monday. It turns out that, since they schedule you to skip a payment during the process, that I'll owe about $300 at closing to cover the escrow shortage due to that payment being skipped.

    So now, at the last minute, they are in a rush for me to prove that I've had at least $300 to my name for the last sixty days.

    Never mind that the payment (that I've never missed) is many times that.

    Never mind that the skipped payment was already submitted online before the closing date was set ( didn't know if I'd skip May's or June's so I sent in May's anyway). So they will be mailing me a refund of several times that $300 in a couple weeks.

    So they approve me for a couple hundred grand loan with barely more than a signature saying 'yeah, I got this' and my payment history as background info, but they seriously need to know I can scrape together $300 at closing? *facepalm*

    Wouldn't be a huge deal except I'm traveling most of the day and they want the info by early afternoon to avoid pushing back closing.
