Faith Hill is really easy on the eyes in that video. The "roll around in a sheet and let you imagine what she is or isn't wearing underneath" thing works as well as they knew it would.

I suppose I could "complain" about missing work last night, but the sleep was glorious last night after being awake far too long.

    What a shitty turn.

A neighbour accidentally killed himself with a stab wound to his leg last night while taking out his recycling (allegedly), two other neighbours/friends just broke up, and my eightysomething grandmother is in ICU after going into cardiac arrest.

Sorry to hear that, especially about your grandmother.

    Positive thoughts for your grandmother.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    Copied from another thread:

On Tuesday........"...After spending over five hours at the hospital with my MIL, I headed home around 4:15pm. I get a call at 4:45pm, when I'm nearly 2/3 the way home & 25 miles from the hospital, telling me that they were going to release her today (oh really, that's news to me) but will need to run another test tomorrow so she isn't being released today. That's actually turned out to be good news, but it would've been nice to know that they were planning to release her today."

Yesterday her 9:00am test got pushed back to 10:30, then we were told at 11:00 it would be about 15 minutes. At around 12:00N we were told the radiologist had an emergency, but the procedure would be done once they cleared the backlog. Finally at 2:20 they took her down for the procedure. The woman came to explain the results to me around 3:20, but they didn't realize that my wife had gone with her mother, and was still in the waiting area. They found my wife, after I told them she down in radiology waiting to hear the results. My MIL still wasn't back in her room because no one from transport responding the call to come get her. The folks in radiology got tired of waiting and brought her back themselves.

For the last couple of months my wife has been making smoothies at home and adding chia seeds to them.

She also rinses out the blender and her smoothie glasses in the sink. Letting any unconsumed chia seeds wash the drain.

Then, the last couple of weeks she has complained that the kitchen sink has been draining slowly.

    See where this is going?

Yeah, good times right now trying to get that gelatinous mess out of the pipes.

Does your dirty dishwasher water sometimes drain back into the dishwasher? Fun, fun, fun!

That's too funny. I suppose I should be careful as I also enjoy smoothies with chia.

No, it isn't completely clogged. But if she has drained a lot through the sink, then runs the dishwasher, it'll back up into the sink.

Take a handful of them, soak them in a bowl of water overnight, then see what you have in the morning. Imagine that in your drain.

    The gelatinous cube!
I had a DM who loved those things.
He always used the huge version and made them damned difficult to kill.

I didn't plan this day right. I'm stuck on a bus in rural Ontario, and I haven't eaten since lunch.

This is why I hate last-minute "planning."

  13. Hope your grandmother is improving, BG.

Getting information about my MIL from the hospital in Las Vegas is proving difficult, and her roommate isn't returning our call. A nurse answered the phone in MIL's room and held the phone to her face for a minute so QW could speak to her. Other than letting her know we were thinking of her and wishing her well, it was an unsatisfying exchange. No results from the biopsy, yet.

At least I don't have a chia pet growing in my drains:D

    You have no clue.

I just broke it all loose about 90 minutes ago.

From the double sink in the kitchen, there are two 90* bends between the cutout and where the blockage was. From where that cutout drops through the floor into the basement pipe makes about a 30-35' straight run towards the front of the house. No cutout in that entire run. Two more bends, then the next cutout. I have a manual snake I ran from both ends, got nothing other than a bunch of gelatinous gunk in the screw. Got an appropriately sized Clog Buster ( H34 - Park Supply of America Water Pulse Drain Cleaner ) and got nowhere. No amount of water pressure would push things through. Repeated tries all weekend with both the snake and the Clog Buster, nothing.

A buddy offered his powered snake. Drove an hour round trip today to pick it up. If that didn't work the next step was to literally cut the pipe open in the basement where the clog was, snake out the 30-35' run that has no cutouts in it, then patch up the pipe. As soon as I mentioned that was going to be my next step he started wandering around his shop and collecting literally everything (down to the PVC fittings, primer, glue, etc.) that I'd need to do it. Told me to Facetime him when I got home if I had any problems and he'd walk me through it. Awesome to have smart and generous friends.

Get home, set up the power snake, and take a few blasts at it. Still nothing. Just filling the screw full of a mess of gelatinous seeds and food gunk. I tell my wife that I'm trying one more time, then I'm heading to the basement with a hacksaw. Give it that shot, still nothing, though the snake went a foot or so further than the last time. So I say "one more, that's it"..........................and it busts through. I run the snake for quite a while driving it back and forth through the area that was clogged. Pull it back, close up the pipe, and start running hot water. It all drains. Fill up both sinks, and then try to drain them while the faucet is running full blast. Still drains. Fast.

Done. Great feeling. Still might cut things open and add a cutout in that long run, but at least I have a usable kitchen in the meantime.

  15. My manager just quit and took a new job somewhere else. I have a new manager that hates me. I've been looking for a new job but grad school, kids, elderly mother, pain from the fact that i need a root canal, and being burnt out has been making the job search, among other things, very difficult.
Because child care costs an arm and a effing leg in this city, I've been watching the kids on the weekend while the wife works. Burnt out and exhausted. I'm pretty close to snapping right now. (Sidenote: I can't even remember the last time I had a drink and I just finished "The Almighty Johnsons" series. Can NOT believe that didn't get renewed. I call BS on that one.)

There's three seasons of The Almighty Johnsons, unfortunately SciFi channel didn't pick up the second two from New Zealand.
Time to put on your eyepatch.

  17. LOL! Yeah, I saw all three seasons via Amazon digital. The blueray will be out in April. That's a definite purchase. :)
