Supply and Demand. Paranoids who are so afraid that they'll never be able to buy any more ammo buy all there is and leave nothing else for the rest of us. Supply goes down, and people panic even more and start a glut on what's left, and now the price goes up. It's a real win-win for the ammo/gun industry.
