Kinky is ok by me. It's a sign of high intelligence.

Plus it gets me kinda hot....

Stepped outside to find that my car was completely dead. A jump start got the car working, but then it started forcefully venting vapor from what looked like the AC. Car's in the shop and the hamster is pissed.

And that was one of the better things that happened today.....

Every so often...after experiencing humanity...and observing it through media...I have to sincerely ask,
What percentage of the world is functionally insane??

Or how much of an average person's life do they live functionally insane??

Do scientists know? Has there been a grant for it yet??

Because reading some of the shit that comes across my eyes...I've got to wonder.

Oh, not that I haven't been either...but there has be some friggin' rationale for it.
Is it just synapses misfiring...with cascading tsunami effects??

    Seriously...WTF!

Should something medically nasty happen that incapicitates him, hope and/or pray that you don't end up being the first contact to care for him.

Good point. My wife is one of four children. Her two sisters live nearby their parents. We are a couple hours away. Plus they are still pretty young. But if something were to happen it's already been determined that the baby sister gets to inherit their dad.

Ugh, we're both older siblings. Normally I'd say we're both screwed, but both of our sets of parents have had to deal with their aging parents. One set is determined to move into tiered living at some point, and the other set is determined to go out all Thelma and Louise style. You can guess as to whose parents want to go out with a bang. :p

Might be worth pulling the younger sibs aside and training them on how to deal with the old man.
Might take a while and some serious prodding but if you can get them to take the heat off it would be worth it.
If he figures out he can't bully the world, he might even be a better person .... hah.

Don't read so much into my post. I never suggested that the Canadian governance didn't work, or more importantly the US has a superior system of government. Canada has long and interesting histories with the UK and France. If other Canadians are OK with Canadians who want to be French, and it works, then so be it.

I can't keep focused today. I miss having weekends. :(

At least I can get extra sleep. (But maybe that's the problem—breaking my routine.)

It's also my lack of time in Azeroth.

    I'm working on it. :p

That kind of mindless shit when you're busy with the kind of work you're doing is PERFECT. I played WoW regularly when super-busy with grad school and thesis shit. It seemed to clear my mind and relax me in a way that other things couldn't.

That's what I was thinking. I used to use it for that purpose. An hour or two of WoW in the evening after a long day of work was a way to get my brain to distance itself from the work and bring it back to a baseline. I miss that. Reading doesn't work because reading is my work. My other games are all too engaging otherwise. With WoW I can choose my level of engagement. Sometimes just running around the world is all I'm after.

As it happens, my SO can get an education discount on Windows, which would greatly reduce my cost of getting back into the game. However, she was reluctant to go along with it when I told her what it was for. She says I spend too much time in my home office as it is. I have to get her to understand that I'm only going to play the game when I'd be stuck in the home office already, and that it's for therapeutic use only. :p Seriously though: My normal playtime is in the evening when I'd be at a computer anyway.

If it's any consolation, I haven't told my husband that I'm likely going to go back to playing WoW.

They are getting there finally, now that they are more established as adults. The youngest daughter is wired somewhat like him (more bossy/take charge than bully), so it'll be perfect. ;)

My FIL mellowed out quite a bit after retired from being a R&D chemist, a high pressure job. He went from being a full-time grump to being a part-time grump.

The one thing I remember most clearly was him controlling the TV. He watched what HE wanted to watch when HE wanted to watch it; he recorded what HE wanted to record and gawd help anyone who touched the TV once he set the VCR.

It's been a couple years since he could even turn on the TV, much less program a recorder.
