    If you insist ;).

Consider how late Rockets fans have had to stay up for the OT games in Portland. It's about time that the Rockets learned how to close a game in regulation; now they need to do it two more times in a row.

Why do I get the bizarre privilege of being the teacher students tell stuff to? I hate paperwork, and then I have to do paperwork after they drop these bombs on me. Hopefully this situation ends well. It really bummed me out.

It means you're doing your job right.
It can be pretty awful, I know.
Jadzia told me the stuff she couldn't tell anybody else so I know some of what you face in terms of the kids telling you their secrets.
It can be damned sad but it means they trust you on a level that's remarkable.
    That's a good thing.

Yes, and that's what I meant by bizarre privilege. I'm glad someone understands. It confounds me sometimes; I don't know what they see in me that makes them want to tell me this stuff, but I'm glad that they do so, even if it means I have to deal with the fallout of making sure they get the help they need.

I'm just glad you're there for them and will do what it takes to get them that help.
Maybe that is what they see in you, the compassion and caring.

I think it's also that they know I'll take them seriously. One of the best compliments I've ever received from one of my students was that I treated them like the adults they were trying to be. I understand that they aren't adults; however, I'd like to give them room to try. 9/10 this works really well, as kids do need to learn to make choices on their own.

I know what it is. :) You have a kind heart, you truly care and they know it. You present yourself in such a way that despite being a grown up in a position of authority, you can be confided in and trusted.

    May Day!
    Geez, Louise.
Didn't know of the term 'drop ship' before today.
My dining room set was one we bought when I was pregnant 22 years ago. I prefer a wood table which it is. The table, which bears many scratches needs to be refinished. I could replace it for the cost of paying someone to do it--so it is going to Maple Lake. The chairs all broke and so we have three matching and one mismatched replacement chair from resale shops. The new set is nice quality but having done my research I knew delivery, which was free, would be iffy. First, they showed up a day early. I had been 'up' for 5 minutes when I heard the message that they would arrive five minutes ago. They unloaded a pallette at the end of the front sidewalk. My son, who had the day off and keeps insane hours like I do, got out of a dead sleep and signed off on the delivery. Then the rain returned. I got lucky in the kid lottery as the table weighs nearly 200 lbs unassembled, and as I was inside throwing clothes on over my sleep-shirt and tending to the dogs, he cut off the heavy plastic covering the pallette and brought all the pieces inside. He insisted that the only help he needed was for me to hold the door open. Then he hauled the pallette to the Dumpster. Sheesh. I guess the day is started.

Two can now officially play at this game.

I just gave Johnny Canuck enough money to buy a brand new Honda Grom.

(Which, of course, I would modify so it instead read "Crom" on the side.)

It's difficult not to provide Chris-don't-be-such-a-total-downer responses to questions that are clearly rhetorical.

Sorry to hear the bad news, GeneticShift. It's always toughest when you're starting out But you will find a job you love. You'll also find that the balance will change as you gain working experience.

In the beginning a lot of places will almost dare you to prove why they should hire you. With experience, they'll be trying harder to convince you that you should choose them

Why is it that I make a new super awesome friend right as I'm leaving for the summer? I think they'll be up to visit though.
