So apparently it is not terribly uncommon to have chunks of tooth/bone work there way out of your gums several weeks after wisdom tooth removal?

Mine were out in Jan. Lower left was insane, over an hour spent on just breaking that tooth into chunks, had to chip away at the jaw bone, yadda yadda yadda, even Percocet couldn't make me happy. My recovery was slower than most due to the extra trauma, but the last few weeks have been smooth sailing finally. Maybe 2-3 days ago I noticed a bit of tenderness on the lower right side. I brushed a little extra, gargled some peroxide, made sure there was nothing down in the mostly healed empty/smooth spot where there used to be a tooth (kind of like Plan9 's crotch, but in my mouth......err, I shouldn't have said that, huh? I'm with ZombieSquirrel on this one, "gross!"). Today I felt a little something extra sore. The texture feeling was like when you get a tiny piece of popcorn kernal wedged in your gums and it's tough to get out. Except there is no tooth in that spot, just gums. Oh, wait, something sharp is poking out from my gums. And *feels around some more* it's next to where there USED to be a tooth. Sure feels like bone. So I call the dentist and let them know what's going on, tell them that it's irritating and on the edge of painful but not extreme. The office manager says "oh, that's somewhat normal, come in tomorrow AM and he'll take a look, he'll probably have to remove it". Great. Hopefully it's fairly minor, I don't have time for this.

I chose a Harley and a Bullmastiff. Nothing more noble than a steel horse and an awesome best friend.
