Why do folks still think that the rectangular eyeglass frames (no, I don't know the proper name, and, yes, you know the frame style I'm speaking of) are stylish? Ten years ago they were unique, kind of cool, and maybe even sexy on the right people. These days they are just common, way too common.

The dallas cowgirls...who have the most obnoxious fans in the world...owned by jackass jerry, the worst and most deluded GM in the NFL...with the wildly inconsistent puny romo as their starting QB...the former team of maryann barber, who stupided himself out of the NFL while playing for Bears.

  2. Had a major rant in mind, but, catching up on this thread reminds me that I have many blessings. So, my bitch is that too many of my TFP family are hurting!

    Medical doctor for one.

Definitely massage within the next week for two. We'll see from there. I've had hit and miss success with chiropractors.

(There are chiros that are massage therapists, too. Not an endorsement of a brilliant Evanston massage therapist-chiro that has my last name. Not.)

Most importantly, feel better Borla. Back pain is the worst (says the girl with a spine that looks like a curly-cue).

Why so many of us have back problems !!!
I remember a physiotherapist saying our body isn't designed to do most work sitting. But almost everything we do is in sitting position. Am I overlooking the causes??

You live in a farm? I have been hearing about skunks but so far not encountered one. Hope not at least not in confrontation.

There was a skunk in my yard a few nights ago...I live in the middle of a (small) town. Luckily, I was outside for a smoke, and not to let the dogs out :) He was cute, but probably only because there was no spraying going on.

I don't have anything to bitch about that isn't a daily thing with me - Worker's Comp, doctors, and lawyers.
I just wanted to see what everybody else is po'd about.....:)

You ever tried tomato sauce/juice on a dog after they've been skunked? I've been told that works but luckily never had to try it out. (I know pure lard on a snake bite helps better than vet's meds.)

I guess I could bitch about the vet's advice over phone (cuz dog about to die on me) and my neighbor down the road's remedy worked better than a high-priced vet's advice did.
Yeah, I'm angry now that I think about it. Thanks for getting me po'd (just kidding).

My mom did the tomato juice thing when I was a kid and our dog got skunked but that remedy has been discarded in favour of the baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, 2-3 squirts of dish soap method. We had all that stuff on hand but took the risk of bleaching Obi's black coat. If one doesn't wish to take such a risk a vinegar bath is said to do the trick. Obi was hit in the face and the hydrogen peroxide could have damaged his eyes so we used gentle shampoo on his face and top of head. He's smelling fine.

No, I live in a heavily-populated suburb about 25 miles northwest of Chicago.
We are surrounded by man-made lakes as well as a"real" river (Salt Creek) and parks. Forest preserves are within a few miles.

Also, very important from the bit of info I've gathered from fellow local dog-owners is that there are many, many skunks this year. That seems to imply that their natural predators have been thinned out. It may be foxes and coyotes have been targeted?

There was the biggest rodent I've seen in my life on our deck yesterday. Neither of my dogs would chase it away. It was an opossum the size of a medium house cat.

We normally get raccoons, rabbits, geese, ducks, squirrels, chipmunks, and turtles and if one goes near the forest preserves, deer are common.
I find this both amusing and disturbing as this is prairieland in it's natural state.

When humans think they know better than nature does how to achieve the right balance, it always ends in disaster of some kind. When are we gonna learn to protect nature as it exists, instead of trying to change it to fit our wants or theories?

(Just like overpopulated deer - begging hunters to go thin them out. If not, nature once again achieve balance thru starvation during winter, if predators lacking)

BTW What do skunks eat? I never thought about it before. Bugs? Plants?.

Well, stuff in the pond...like bugs and plants though I have not seen them eat anything from our (now dead/dying) flower garden.

Yes :) They like grubs and berries and grass...although the ones that live near humans are VERY fond of dog food (or cat food, for that matter.)

We live in rural with lakes, hills and lakes nearby. I had seen opossum raccoons koyotes. No they don't come that close to our house if they do they will be taken care.
I like animal life a lot but not at door step. I am even planning a pond just to see the birds and animals around.

I think this deserves a separate thread I will start one

Cool. Good thing my dogs never leave a single shred of any kind of food nearby. I'm curious why the skunks don't get into the Dumpster like the raccoons do.

We were also considering our neighbours who put out bread for geese (bad) and birdseed in the summer (lots ends up on the ground) as potential culprits that are drawing otherwise wild animals to our doorsteps.

  16. Y'know, I'm in my nth year of college studies, and you'd have thought that I'd learn by now that all nighters are terrible ideas.

And yet, here I sit in the library, trying to force more information into a brain that simply refuses to cooperate.

*Seriously* need to go and see my counselor sometime soon. This "not being able to focus" shit is really starting to get old.

Sitting in a lecture on GI disorders in children. A slide comes up with 12 photos of kids w. cleft lip. Black kids, asian kids, Hispanic kids, middle eastern kids and the professor says 'obviously these kids look like the are from the same place. You know, a poor country...'

    Um, fail, professor. Sheesh.

I get frustrated with people who go to Sam's Club in large groups, wait until they get to the checkout to discuss at great length who's paying for what, and have the cashier divide their haul into several purchases. And question many of the prices.

For gawds sakes, folks. If that many people in your family want to shop at Sam's, cough up the $$ for the additional membership cards. Separate the items while you're shopping. Sam's does a pretty good job having the prices posted right where you picked-up the items, try reading them.
