Well, I'm resigned to the fact that I have to become an LSU fan so I don't get my ass kicked in the next year.
But I really liked the UGA/Clemson game last week. Especially when it was on the screen next to the UFC fight.
I just don't know what is happening...

I once followed a long line of cars headed north on 101 north of Beaver and south of Tillamook going 15mph tops. I reached the final curve at the KOA and things quickly started moving 55+. When I passed the KOA I saw a trooper I knew with s stopped motor home, big ass thing looked like something some famous country band might travel in. A few days later I ran into the trooper at the Y and asked what was that all about. He stated he was stuck doing 10-15mph from Cloverdale, even with his lights flashing it took 15 miles to catch up and figure out the delay. When he stopped the 73 yr old driver and asked why he was going so slow the driver replied- "we have a reasonable explanation, see mom informed me she's already set the dinner table and I had to drive slow so the dishes wouldn't get moved or even worse broke." The trooper told me hr did a full inspection on the bus and wrote over a grand in fines.

Must be a strange world to live in where no one else exist.

Traveling just sucks ass anymore. Yesterday's breakfast in 1st class was cornflakes, a banana, some butter and strawberry jam with a little salt pepper. .. no bread at all. I have no idea what the salt and pepper was for or the butter. After 16+ hours of travel with nine in the United Club in Houston I arrived in Portland to find every zipper on my checked bag open, no notice from TSA, and I am missing my electric razor and few other small items. Assholes.

Pretty sure that throwing a guy to the ground when he's got both hand up in the "surrender" position is going to get called every single time in every single league ever.

The "the ref's stole the game from us" excuse is usually just that in my opinion- an "excuse." Yeah the refs make some bad calls but often by the end of the game it +/- even in each direction. My 9'er won yesterday and I immediately got an e-mail from a Packers fan friend saying basically "must be nice to have the ref's hand you the game." Really? Matthews was making late or out of bound hits all day long. He said he was pretty much going to "do anything it takes" to get the 9'ers QB. I guess anything included hitting him 3 yrds out of bounds and often taunting after. If the game outcome had gone the other way I can assure you I wouldn't be crying about the ref's.

My sole complaints from yesterday is the Cowboys not only won but dominated and the Seahawks game wasn't on in the lounge I was in. I take solace in the fact there's a 80-90% chance Romo will choke if they make the post season.

  15. Debatable. Rey was tangled with him earlier in the play with no flag. So when he retaliates and throws him to the ground there's a flag? Not buying it. Refs were flag happy the entire game. There were two instances where flags were tossed and withdrawn. In any situation where players see flags tossed, it changes the momentum of the game. Refs should be fined for making bad calls. Gonna lobby for that. :)

In other "bitching and complaining" news I now have pneumonia and on my way to the Care Station for supplies. Would go to my doctor but I'm pretty sure he'd tell me to walk it off. Prolly should change primary care docs.

There were bad or questionable calls all over the league yesterday (obviously not uncommon, but it seemed more consistent, perhaps due to the start of the season). Pretty sure I saw at least two or three in every game I saw. They particularly seemed to have trouble with the change in rules regarding the amount of time a player is allowed to spend out of bounds during a play.

    Best of luck with that.

I think if your team is in a position where it needs every call to be prefect your team needs improvement.

Whining abut how the "refs stole the game" from my team is as old as sporting events but it's still just whining in my opinion.

You've glossed over the biggest problem the Bengals had in the 2nd half - not being able to get the right personnel (or even the right number) on the field at the right time. They burned all 3 timeouts on stupidity like that. The UR penalty was an obvious call since it's in front of the ref, is a veteran hammering on a rookie and the Bengal player is the only one continuing the festivities after the whistle blows. Even if that flag doesn't get thrown - which is a near impossibility given all of the above - the Bengals were going to be pinned inside their 20 with less than a minute to go and no time-outs. Not exactly a great spot.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  19. Not saying every call has to be perfect. Not at all. Saying that there were bad calls in majority of the games played yesterday and blaming the team for all of them makes no sense. Listing the Bengals problems is too easy. Its been done for years and the fans are aware of each and every one.

Is it too much to ask for refs to be held accountable for poor performance? Out of all the crap that happened across the league yesterday, one ref admits it. (Bill Leavy)

He MIGHT get fined from Goodell. But my problem is they aren't checking for all bad calls. They will only fine those who come out and admit mistakes. I'll take the whining call on that.

Honestly I think the ref's do get reviewed and I believe I have heard of them being suspended for really bone headed crap, though I'm not 100% sure of that.

To me in the end it's usually a wash by the end of many games, certainly by the end of the season. I mean I can not a recall any team over any season where I thought or it was talked about in general that X team would have had a good season if the damn ref's didn't ruin it with all thier bad calls. No each team gets dealt bad blows by calls that blow. But if that makes or breaks you or your season your team has deeper problems than bad calls.
