I know people who make money on the side being paid DMs.
I never thought about how much work and creativity goes into the process but it makes sense to pay someone who creates a weekly entertainment that can last hours.
And if you are paying them you are much more likely to show up.

I get this sentiment. I've played a lot of D&D on Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds over the past several years, but this isn't the same as my semi-regular in-person sessions that I ran before 2020.

Since 2017, I've gotten heavily into board games, but I'm lucky in that I have up to 5 other players living within 100 feet of me (in addition to two other board game collections).

I think the big draw is the unplugging. This is why board gaming specifically (and tabletop gaming in general) has seen such a huge boom.

Sorry, folks. This list is way, way too "woke" for me. A number of these events have taken place in my game (and my co-GMs) over the years and will probably continue to do so in the future. If they were prohibited (even in part), our campaigns would never get off the ground. All the players know this and accept it as an (unpleasant) part of life. Right and justice (sometimes brutal) always triumph in the end. People who can't tolerate it shouldn't be in our games in the first place. They should be headed for Disneyland.

    It's about consent and description.
If you have someone in your group who was brutally sexually assaulted the list is a way to find out what they are comfortable with.
You don't have to change the campaign but you can change how you describe things.
You are also getting the consent of the person to run that kind of campaign.
Nothing about the trauma they went through suggests them going to Disneyland.
They don't want to be wrapped in pillows, just to be given some room to fight.
