Except for his rallies. If Obama had continued to show up once or twice a month in big stadiums in the big deep blue cities after he was elected and took office in 2009, I think things would have been different. Showing up to these swing states matters still.

I will say that the rest of the campaign Trump ran in 2016, including the convention was a complete mess, but with a unified GOP in 2020, I'm not seeing it as being the worse campaign ever. If anything, I am seeing more support for him in the suburbs and backroads in the Upper Midwest.

How many voters who got caught up in Trump's hype during The 2016 Perfect Storm Of Discontent have come to their senses?

Is Biden more palatable now to No Trumpers than Hilary was in 2016?
Four years of Trump will probably help move a fair number. But will Won't Vote For Trump actually lead to Will Vote For Biden?

One intangible about the polls concerns me: Folks supporting Trump lying about how they're voting (the Trump base includes some very odd people). It's possible there is coordinated effort to mislead pollsters. Perhaps part of the foreign influence.

I'm actually shocked at the number of intelligent and educated people who actually BELIEVE and BELIEVE IN Trump. These are not uneducated and ignorant people. The divide splitting the US is vast to the point of being nearly unbelievable.

If, hopefully when, Biden wins, he going to have to decide between treading lightly, or going full speed. Obviously what happens in the House and the Senate will play a large role.

I do have one Uncle who voted for Trump in 2016 who has switched to Biden. Probably because every one of his kids and my Aunt didn't let up about it. I think he was thinking Trump was going to be a honorable businessman and Pence was going to be a religious leader. But my other Trump voting friends haven't changed. Banning abortion/religious power in society, and using the military to get respect are the main reasons. Guns are a minor one.

However, the only big shift in the voters I haven't heard being talked about now is the 14-18 year olds in 2016 are able to vote and a few million older people have died. I would guess that some more non-voters in 2016 will vote this time too. I haven't heard from my Green Party friends if they can't vote for Biden, so I would expect that they will vote for him and then start complaining in February.

I also fear that these early voting numbers are the passionate people on both sides turning in their ballots. So while it is a good thing, it might not mean that turnout overall is going to be way over what it normally is.

I voted at around 4:50PM on Friday, yesterday, the last day of early voting.
    Easy parking.
    No line.
Had my choice of around 20 empty stations.
    All office races.
    No bonds.
    No confusing issues.

Is this image accurate, or just businesses that were already closed and boarded?

What if Trump loses, large numbers of militia groups show up to keep their president in office, and Trump does nothing to disperse them? Who makes the decision to take action?

    It looks accurate
It’s more boarding than what I saw when I went down to that area a few weeks ago.

    That’s a good question...
Well, if T loses, then he’ll have less influence and power
Even if he’s technically in power until January
He really hasn’t made any friends
And friends change course quickly in DC
The GOP will be in shock, as they usually are after a loss.

The DC police are under the mayor who has no love for him.
The military and intelligence leaders do not like him.
And the other police entities will balk
They won’t bend as they did before

Plus they want to stay on the good side of Pelosi
They want their funding from the House.
She still owns the House and will for some time from what it sounds like.

Politicians and bureaucrats don’t play well with losers.
Especially one that’s burned so many bridges.
They posture to get in good sorts with the new power.

I’ve seen what it’s like in DC when sides change
Like when Obama took over from GWB or when T took over from Obama.

The opposition is kinda punch drunk

Now if there’s a down to the wire question
Then they all suit up for legal battles
But that type of ambiguity doesn’t trigger riots or celebrations.

I think Ts administrators will only be scrambling to cover their asses...shredding, deleting, etc.

Only if it’s close or if there’s any doubt, he can put up resistance
But if it’s clear cut...he’ll find it’s not just the Pentagon resisting help, like last time...it will be all of them.

We (loosely speaking) elected a wannabe dictator in 2016.

Are "we" going to reelect the turned dictator in 2020?

I think about the things Conman did while reportedly concentrating on reelection. What would he be willing to do without being restrained by reelection concerns? Especially if the Republicans keep a Senate majority, i.e. little chance of successful impeachment.

We shall see what happens afterwards, but I worry that it will resemble a scene from the Game Of Thrones.

I'm not sure if it would help. There is a chance of riots this week. The Australian government already banned their citizens from coming to the US, but added another caution for election protests and random gun violence for good measure.

However, there is also the chance of an armed coup to try and hold onto power in January that I would expect to be possible after seeing the rallies, boat parades, and highway antics of the Republicans. I also fear violence at the inauguration if Biden wins. You know that crowd size is going to be talked about, and I would anticipate threats to try and keep people from going. It is very hard to try and secure the entire National Mall too. I would imagine that the traffic and streets that will need to be shutdown would be even larger than in 2009.

Any guesses as to when we'll have the official count (barring serious problems, and desperate last minute law suits)? I say Friday.

The Trump supporters harassing and even hitting the Biden bus disgusts me.
Anybody who supports it disgusts me.
Any Trump supporter who doesn't condemn it disgusts me.
Trump making a joke about the "escort" disgusts me.

    Moronic. Inexcusable. Disgusting.

I heard a report the FBI is investigating. I doubt that anyone involved will face any serious charges or jail time. I certainly hope it will cost the morons involved a lot money, suspended drivers licenses, and very importantly any Concealed Handgun Licenses. And give them a permanent criminal record.

"Your honor, we ask for leniency. My client is young and ignorant."

"Counselor, your client is young and ignorant, and now has a permanent felony conviction on their record."
