I distinctly remember my wife's Ob/Gyn telling her not to consume flax during pregnancy.

Take that for what you will.

I didn't know 16 weeks was early for tendons loosening. Maybe it was just early for me as well. You didn't say if the disease causing chronic pain had anything to do with hips.

The pillow between the knees is one thing I sometimes use (mine never did return to normal). You can also try folding a thick comforter to place under your lower half. If you instead need more support, an air mattess ( in addition to the possible comforter) can be adjusted for comfort. You may also try elevating either your upper half or lower half to see if either helps. As your pregnancy progresses, though, doctors advise not to sleep on your back.

A heating pad can sometimes help, but I was told by a physical therapist ( car accident ) to always follow up with an ice pack to relieve inflamation.

*Please take care getting in and out of vehicles (especially a truck) chairs, and the tub. Your hips can get to a point where they suddenly feel like one doesn't exist and buckle for a second - long enough for you to almost fall. As you get larger, your balance and ability to catch yourself will lessen.

    Thanks for the suggestions itwasme.
Nope, it's endometriosis - it affected the organs in my endocrine and digestive systems, ravaging my abdomen with adhesions and internal scar tissue.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

This reminded me, when my wife was pregnant she had this whole body foam pillow that she slept up against.
I can't remember the name or specifics but she seemed more comfortable with it.

An algae-based one is ideal. Ascenta has a vegan echium oil with algae oil. It converts from SDA to EPA and has DHA. Not sure about suitability for pregnancy though.

Flaxseed oil does have problems. Low efficiency is one. It also spoils very easily, which is bad. The hormone thing makes sense. I've read that flaxseed oil can be bad for men if the seed's lignan's aren't added back to the oil extract.

I also hear phytoestrogens counter/compete with our own, which is something you perhaps know more about than any of us.

  7. Congratulations on your newborn! Pain in the hips is just normal if you are pregnant. You should worry if the pain occurs after giving birth and it won't go away. If this happens, consult an orthopedic doctor. Placidway.com can help you with that! :)
