Hey, redheadsandbigbeds.com sounds like it should be an important website. Too bad I made it up and it doesn't exist.

 

Found a mistake in the stickers in half of the music department this weekend, managers did the math, if it wasn't caught it would have cost the store $8500 minimum.

The awesomeness of GeneticShift cannot be measured in dollars and cents but this is a good start.

 

This is still majorly on the downlow and might fall through at any time due to scheduling conflicts, but I might be getting a promotion. The receiving manager wants me as her assistant and is pushing the general manager to make it happen. A lot of people in the store are qualified for the promotion, but I'm the one that she picked. Feels good.

My boss hired my brother as a student worker. So far he's gotten all the busy work done that we've thrown at him because we didn't have time to get to it, plus we've already heard back by the end of the second week that he's doing a great job on service calls. One person today was literally jumping up and down and thanking him for he recovered a file that she accidentally deleted.

 

Yanked a drunk off the road. Illegally in the country since 1998, never had a drivers license, no social security #. Released him anyways, we don't touch illegals just for that. But he was weaving, didn't dim headlights, and had two drunk women with him. Blew a .15. Woot.

 

I got to flip one of those big tires at boot camp on Tuesday night. My forearms are aching like crazy as a result, but it was pretty fucking awesome.

 

There's a good possibility that I'm going to get the TA position that I'm vying for next semester. The professor in question seems to really like me because I actually go to his office hours (and because he actually knows what he's talking about and cares about this major, unlike our department head) and we chat about random things. The only thing that might hold me back is my grades in some of those classes being indicative of me "not knowing my stuff," but I'm going to conveniently not think about that for a while.

After fighting with a Cisco router for more than 3 hours armed with nothing more than a CCNP book, I got the sucker connecting to the internet with DHCP on the outbound interface and NAT for the interior network. I hadn't touched an enterprise-grade router config file in years before this.

Feeling pretty good right now.

 

Tonight in boot camp I flipped and rolled a 250lb truck tire by myself, and I feel pretty accomplished—and bad ass—for having done so.

Today I was super prepared, technically competent and helped a newbie learn the ropes of basic marksmanship in preparation for a formal shooting class next weekend.

 

Finally, almost halfway into my year-long lease, I've cleaned off the spot that I've designated as my "get shit done" area.

Sitting on my couch has the mental association of dicking around, which I think is most of my problem. Now I have a clean area that my mind can associate with getting shit done.

Success.

 

Went on a shopping spree with my aunt who has been trying to get me to go with her for years.

I am now the proud owner of many things I've never considered wearing before, including 3 pairs of delicious boots and several outfits that didn't come off of the "last chance clearance" rack at Old Navy.

I'm feeling confident.
