How Ruth Bader Ginsburg Will Have The Last Laugh on Samuel Alito — POLITICO

Y’better watch out…you might get what you wish for… ;)

Alito is a hack anyway…incredibly biased.
Mr. “You Lie” he shouts to Obama during a SOTU.

Amazing what happens when you ignore a complex situation
To put your own narrow values on everyone else.
    Reality hits
    And it gets complicated quick.

He’s going to regret his action
But deny it all the same…since he can’t stand admitting failure.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, Last Seen Obliterating Abortion Rights, Wants Liberal Female Colleague to Shut Her Mouth — Vanity Fair

This particular SCOTUS justice is a scrotum.

This is the same guy who yelled out “You Lie!!!”
Right in the middle of Obama’s State of the Union address.
    About nothing particularly important.

    He’s ANOTHER radicalized justice…
Just like Clarence Thomas, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch

Not just conservative, but MAGA level.
AND all are involved with radicalized activities to give the GOP power
If not, actually take over and have a one party country.

Roberts and Brett are actually thinking conservatives that may consider other options…and vote that way.
And neither is trying to create a coup…they are actually sincere, whether you agree with their qualities or not.

Alito is actually obnoxious about it.
And smarmy, for extra negative energy to torture listeners.
    He makes me cringe…
May even be worse than Thomas. :(

    How did we get here?
We were actually a sophisticated and intelligent country once.
    Yes, that’s an exaggeration
    But it makes a point.

GWB is back in the news -- sort of -- because of Hurricane Ian. Namely how W played favorites in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Clarence Thomas should be reclused from ANY ruling pertaining to the Big Lie, since his wife has openly admitted (plenty of proof as well) to trying influence people to overturn the election.

And Dandy Graham should definitely have to explain his conversations with officials in Georgia. I need to research the "speech and debate" clause in the constitution. I very seriously doubt that it covers communications made under very suspicious circumstances.

Justices cheered at conservative group's anniversary dinner

It seems that our SCJs who are anything but "politically neutral" have a history of openly associating with the Federalist Society.

"Amid heavy security..." At taxpayer's expense, or does the FS actually spend its own money (which it should if it follows its own beliefs)?

    I'd be for them.
    Lifetime is too much.

People havta remember that way back when the American Founders created the Constitution,
    people didn't live long.
So toxic justices tended to leave sooner.

I'd say 10 years is long enough.

Bonus: then with more turn over they'd more likely have a pulse on the current culture and blended in with the typical citizen more.

AND they should impeach Thomas, if not Alito too for their conflict of interests AND ambiguous questionable activities.
(unfortunately, the House is unlikely going to do anything with a even small GOP control)

I wonder if Biden can do anything as prez??
Other than just expanded the court...

A major problem with SCOTUS term limits: Political support will yo-yo depending on which party is in power and which way the court leans. Repubs all in favor of weakening a left-ist court, & vice-versa. A neutral court would be ideal, but recent events -- and let's not forget the court's failure to stand up to McCarthyism -- show us that isn't always the case.

Will the court actually police itself?
Perhaps the same as do doctors, LEOs,
    LEAs, attorneys, & politicians.

I do think we are at a point where adding a extra members wouldn't hurt.
Having extra members wouldn't hurt in terms of how long it would take to make things happen because we actually have technology now.
Making it possible to impeach members (and we know who we are talking about) is a must as well.
It was never foreseen that the wife of a judge would be political activist and that they wouldn't recuse themselves when they should.

Absolutely there should be ways to remove justices. But the rules would have to be ironclad, not subject to selective enforcement & political whims.

The article mentioned too many rules keeping qualified & quality judges from accepting nominations. That would be legitimate concern.

Supreme Court considers limiting judicial scrutiny in U.S. elections

Can we trust state courts to police the actions of its politicians?

Or should state political leaders & bodies have the/more freedom to draw up districts as they see fit?

Redistricting & gerrymandering are tools used by both parties, & they need to be controlled. One problem is neither party wants truly balanced districts (TBD). A second problem if every state had TBD, political power would (most likely) yo-yo so much we'd end up with coalition governments that would spend more time trying to make deals than actually getting anything useful done.

Giving the state courts more control could be problematic. We've already seen how political appointments can affect the courts. I'm 99% convinced the Texas courts would be completely behind anything that could be considered conservative, and against anything considered progressive and/orliberal.

The recent increase in partisan division reveals
how biased our state courts can be,
what judges will do help a political party
    stay in/regain power, &
what they will do to enforce unfair laws.

    This' a triple whammy:
We can't trust our politicians to play fair.
We can't trust our state courts to play fair.
We can't trust SCOTUS to play fair.

The Supreme Court and Justice Department was absolutely needed to enforce the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act.
This is just part of their being in the Leonard Leo and the Federalist Societies back pocket.

Clarence Thomas and the Billionaire — ProPublica

    Frankly, Thomas should be impeached.
But there’s no way the GOP led House is going to do it.

But he should worry if the Dems get back the majority…

The man is corrupt, worthless as a justice
And his wife’s actions and connections are just outlandish in traitorous tendencies.

This what impeachment was put in for, in the constitution.

I just saw that on my news feed.

Thomas' actions don't surprise me at all. He always struck me as a defiant 'I do what I want, I don't give a shit about the rules, or what you think.' person.

Unfortunately I'm learning to expect the GOP leaders, elected and otherwise, to do nothing. It's all about maintaining power, at any cost.
