    Here's the thing with that kind of meme, I don't think that it's just the guys who wear uniforms and carry guns who defend our freedom.
    I see the folks who marched in Selma, the three young men, James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner (RIP), who were trying to get people registered to vote, the woman who marched to get equal rights, my grandfather as a member of the IWW fighting for union rights, all of those people were defending our freedom.
    Black Lives Matter is trying to defend freedom, the ACLU is trying to defend freedom, my union is trying to defend freedom.

    I don't appreciate the implication that I am "argumentative", especially after I took the time to earnestly respond to your post that introduced a rhetorical argument which I took to be in response to mine.

    Please do not dismiss me with personal insults. I will note here on page 4 of this thread that I urged against this very practice in my previous post, on the previous page.

    I wish this one weren't so negative. Attitudes such as this lead to further disrespect and violence between groups such as Blue and Black Lives Matter.

    Thank you for the reassurance, GM. Unfortunately however, intention does not change the consequence of a given set of words or a given action.

    I am all for the limitation of vehicle use to clearly vetted and licensed and insured users. There was a point in my life when I would have gladly encouraged our society to find a way to live by banning personal vehicles all together. But as much as I love the train, man, I would miss road trips.

    Not to mention that over the past hundred years, car manufacturers have continually introduced designs and features that make cars less dangerous, while gun manufacturers have continually introduced designs and features that make guns more dangerous.

    • A license (*for the type of vehicle you're using - car, cycle, truck, etc...)
    • Vehicle registration (and pay taxes sometimes)
    • Eye test
    • Written test
    • Driving test (**for the type of vehicle you're using - car, cycle, truck, etc...)
    • Insurance (***for the type of vehicle you're using - car, cycle, truck, etc...AND your background and usage history)
    • Inspection (including smog test sometimes)
    • State where you live and update it (AND prove it)
    Then you're supposed to update these or retest periodically
    AND there are MANY rules of the road and usage
    AND they are continually and actively enforced and monitored by officers and other persons and gadgets.

    So do you think our gun owners (AND politicians) would agree to something like this??
    I wouldn't mind. (...and I don't mind guns or their use either)
