QOTD #52: Have any Valentine's plans?

I always liked the idea that Valentine's Day was meant to take the place of Lupercalia, like Christmas/Yule, but I recently read that theory has been thrown out. Anyway, it seems like I always see more people complaining about V-Day than celebrating it, and that makes me sad. It doesn't have to be a "buy expensive jewelry and flowers and wait two hours for a restaurant dinner" kind of day, anymore than Christmas needs to be "max out your credit cards buying expensive gifts and put your tree up in October" kind of thing. Sure, companies are going all out to get us to spend money, 'cause that's what they do, and it's annoying. But that's not really what it's about, y'know?

 

No real plans for Valentine's Day.

Our daughter made breakfast for us, which was a great start to the day. I had picked up some flowers and a nice pair of earrings for my wife. She grumped that I am impossible to buy for.

We had dinner out with our friends and then watched a movie together.

Low key.

 

I tried to be nice and make my wife breakfast in bed, she got up before one as done. I tried to make her dinner and I burnt it. Now I'm in the drive through at taco bell. Guess I shoulda just stayed on the couch today or not even got out of bed. Grrr

 

Yours made me giggle. And, because I KNOW you were having fun, it was well received. it's the whole flowers! Candy! Love! Money! Stuff that drives me nuts. And, you'd send that on a Thursday, anyway,

 

I went on a first date tonight with someone I met last night. Tea and walking by the river downtown. I did 8.5 miles earlier today hiking and my pedometer now says 14 miles, so I guess we walked 5.5 miles up and back? Wow. I like him.

Yesterday, I went on a first date with someone (else) to see Book of Mormon (AMAZING!) and we had dinner after. It was good. Then I went by myself to a cacao and sound healing ceremony at a yoga studio (yeah, hippie dippie shit but I loved it), where I met today's date. I also met someone else there who I'm going on a first date with on Wednesday..

 

No Valentine, did my usual vinyl hunt.
Found a perfect condition Runaways first album and picked up the limited edition Imelda May album I ordered.

Tomorrow my kiddo and I are going to dinner and to see Deadpool.

 

Be careful about what and when you plant. Your area of town is subject to "surprise" frosts (yes, I'm yet again displaying my talent for pointing out the obvious ). On the south side I can gamble on early planting and usually get away with it.
