That's the double truth, Ruth.

 

In our experience, the main things are use a relatively fresh shaving cartridge (Gillete Sensor Excel for us), and shave at least three times a week. For myself, it takes me five minutes to shave while leaving a 'grinding strip.' My wife does find that shaving the hairs in the fold around her clitoris on her own a bit difficult, but she has me to gladly help her.

 

As a guy with coarse hair I can't say I've ever had any major irritation issues. If I do have some minor ones, its when I haven't shaved in a while. If I "keep up" its not a problem.

 

Yea as a guy thats not an issue since we don't have to shave that far. There has been SOME chaffing but that tends to go away after a while.

 

The only real shaving issue I have as a guy is when my testicles are in tight against my body, leaving the skin of the sack wrinkled. That takes a little more effort to shave. When they're loose & floppy, the skin is easy to pull this way & that way to get a good shave. When they're in between tight & loose, the sack appears to be full, making the skin is tight but not wrinkled, and easy to shave.

Minor nicks (very minor nicks) do occur with a small amount of bleeding, and that might cause someone new to shaving to freak out a bit. I usually shave before showering, and by the time I'm done showering the nicks are closed, you can't even tell where they were. A wipedown with a wet washcloth also works; in a few minutes everything is fine. If a guy or gal experiences any cuts beyond minor nicks, that's usually a sign to use a lighter touch and replace the shaving cartridge.

I've yet to use an electric razor that gave me a decent shave on my face, so I've never tried one on my pubic hair.

IME, itching is usually an issue when you first start shaving (practice makes perfect), if you go a long time without shaving, or try to force a close shave with a dull razor.

 

Don't even think of trying. It took me a while to find a good electric for my face, BUT those things and clippers will grab parts of your magic sack that will make you very unhappy. I tried...once.

Given the lousy results shaving my face with various ERs (I don't have a heavy beard, but I do have a few very stubborn patches), there's no way I'll try an ER on me danglies.
