97 degrees today where we stayed in Palm Springs, CA but the locals said it was quite cold here a couple of weeks ago.

Beat us by 4 degrees. Should be hot for days to come. Enjoy!

    And now...an Ice Storm.

They say we may lose 90% of the Cherry Blossoms (not that I give a flying fig about those...sure, they're pretty, but its not something to get "into" about)

It's been a bit of a madhouse on the roads today. Definitely not spring. But, I'm getting the hang of drifting!

That feeling of elation, that rush of adrenaline as your car turns into a sled is like no other.

After three days in the car we checked into a great location hotel in Palm Springs right off of the main drag downtown. Easy walk to anyplace we wanted to go. I didn't even get in the car at all on Monday. Temps in the nineties both days. Great pool with a sun deck area. I love to just bake in the sun!

Palm Mountain Resort & Spa, Palm Springs Resorts, Hotel
Good value at about $150/night including taxes and fees.
Did a lot of walking and people watching on Palm Canyon Ave.

Tonight in Newport Beach. About 70 degrees with fog and wind. Feels absolutely frigid after two days in the desert.
We're in an old classic beach front hotel. 217 steps from hotel lobby to the beach sand. I counted. Beautiful sunset tonight.

For what it's worth, we are about 1° north of the equator. Which means we are in the northern hemisphere.

We get roughly 12 hours of light per day but the hours the sun rises and sets do vary.

As for Spring... this time of year is the coolest time of year. It's our winter (so to speak). It's slowly coming to an end as the daytime temp and humidity have been going up.

    So 'spring' is close.

    CinnamonGirl The Cheat is GROUNDED!

It WAS...but now it's cold again. The dogwood trees in the backyard had started to bloom, but the frost killed the blooms off :(

We've had a cold snap here, too. My peach tree had finished blooming before the cold hit. We'll see how the chill impacts the fruit. Hope it rains more today.

We skipped winter, just cold and windy for the past couple months. Everything is in bloom including my allergies. Spring is here.

Blooms are so delicate. Hope your peaches prevail! This is my first year trying to grow any fruit other than tomatoes. Have a Mandarin orange (shrub) tree in bloom but the weather extremes are keeping me wary. A fifty-degree difference between night and day temperatures is a lot.

    Edit this a.m:

OMG! We have butterflies! In my yard! Must be the fruit trees!

Woke up to this. Heavy, wet, not sticking to the roads. It looks like it has basically stopped now just after ten am. It was almost 60 and blues skies yesterday.
