I'm very sorry to hear this, Settie. You know we're all thinking about you.

Stay strong, and try your darnedest not to let your anger get the best of you. Focus instead on what you know is best for you.

Me: Huh? No. It must be a fraud thing. I'll sort it out with the bank
    Her: Ok, let me know
    *cancel order*
    *re-order with a different account*
Me: It's straight, money back in the account
    Her: Good, thanks!

I wanted to get my Christmas tree today but it looks as if it will have to wait until tomorrow. That's okay--I have snowflakes and lights to put up in the window the tree will be in front of. Then I have to decorate the rest of the house, too. I suppose getting that stuff out of the way will mean I can focus on solely trimming the tree tomorrow.

Greece: Distinguished Physician and Activist Faces Eviction » 99GetSmart

Meanwhile, under the new “fast-track” eviction procedures that are only one of a multitude of measures – some small, some egregious – that are slowly bleeding Greece’s people through a thousand cuts, this distinguished physician and dedicated citizen journalist has been informed that he is to be evicted from his home. In many European countries, eviction is illegal under any circumstances during the winter months. But not in the Greece of today. Not in the Greece that has become a laboratory of neoliberal doctrine. That is why Dr. Giorgos Kosmopoulos is doing everything he can to inform the world, despite the silence and complacency of the mainstream corporate media, of the plight of his country.
He spoke about the pending eviction tonight on his livestream:
“We will prepare for peaceful civil disobedience tomorrow. We will not tolerate being violently removed from our home of 14 years. If the eviction is imposed, we will resist and express our disobedience. We will not allow them to get inside our house. They may resort to using violence and throwing our belongings on the street. We hope some comrades will come to our house to support us. Online, it’s not wise to say what we will do. This will all be online and live. So keep in mind you who are talking from the US, it will be difficult for you to view because of the time difference.
The world must know of the humanitarian catastrophe in Greece. Thousands of Greek families are homeless and nobody cares about us. Please do your best to spread the word and help raise awareness.”

Two Christmas pressies for my hubs are in the mail. This is great timing because I don't really like shopping until I have a tree to put things under. I wrap all the presents as I buy them and stow them under the tree--it looks more festive.

My window is decorated for Christmas and I am quite content.

I find it interesting that you keep insisting that men are either lousy at housekeeping, or refuse to do it. I'm a much better housekeeper than the woman in my house (who by her own admission would be a terrible housewife), and this circumstance is not at all exclusive to our relationship, by my experience.

Perhaps you just need better men in your life.

I saw the earlier post about this. I don't know what to say. Make sure you keep us in the loop -- we're all behind you on this one.

We got our tree. It probably won't be ready for trimming tonight. It's still damp.

This really belongs in the Tilted Politics, etc. Forum, where you could count on the predictably usual responses from the predictably usual responders.:)

    Perhaps you are right!

I'm down to living with 2 men after years of living with three. Generally, I don't make sweeping (no pun) generalizations, but guys roughly your age (young enough to be my son) seem more evolved about the notion of sharing household responsibilities. Generally speaking, the men on this board seem more evolved than the general populace in a number of ways. That's part of why I like it here. :)

Apologies to all the guys I may have inadvertently dissed or sounded condescending to.

My little guy is sick again. This time with a fever and nasty cough. Hope he wakes up feeling better or it could be a very long weekend.

Thank you so much, guys and gals, for your kind wishes. I'm still in effing shock.
I really don't know much about it yet, besides the fact its breast cancer. I see the specialist Monday.
I'm just trying not to think about it much, keep positive, and good vibes all around. My doctor scared me good when she told me, but fuck her, she doesn't have all the answers, or what my cancer is like. Ugh, weird words to say...my cancer...
But yeah! Gonna keep positive, and get it out of me. I don't need that crap. XD
    Fuck you, cancer. Hehe.
*hugs and kisses to you all*

Good on you, settie. Keep your chin up -- you're tougher than cancer.

    ...

Worked until 8 tonight, got home at 9. Pager went off at 10 and I've been working with an upstream vendor to troubleshoot an issue ever since. Seems trivial in comparison to what other folks are facing right now, but I really hate it when "one of those days" turns into "one of those nights".
