  1. I slept 13 hours! I NEVER do that! I must have been pretty tired. I believe I was out around 9pm, but wasn't up until 10am. I felt great this morning, but feel like I wasted it since I slept in so late.

Sauce and balls are simmering... the house smells so good.
Cake is cooling, pudding is chilling, and the chocolate is finely chopped in the bowl, awaiting boiling cream.
The par-baked French bread, flown in daily from New Orleans is waiting to go into the oven for 9 minutes to finish baking, then the addition of garlic and butter, and in for another few minutes.
Homemade red gravy and S's meatballs over angel hair, garlic bread, and Boston Cream Pie for dessert.
Our men went on a guy's trip so the other wife and I are having a yummy dinner tonight.
And my stress level has gone way down.
Maybe because I have vanilla beans all over me. Just learned how to scrape them today.

I made dis. From scratch. All by myself. I've never made my own pudding, scraped a vanilla bean, or made ganache before.
I didn't even know what the hell ganache was. And it is gooooooood. But I cannot eat it. And I have to make another one Monday.

Completely off cable and satellite tv. Still working out the kinks in my setup but I think this is going to work beautifully.

    Pretty!

I make mine in the microwave. I discovered this trick from Harold McGee. Works like a charm. If you make a firmer ganache, you can use it to make truffles. Just scoop and shape the ganache into balls, then roll in cocoa. I like to add a sprinkle of cinnamon to my cocoa.

This is my favorite vanilla pudding: vanilla bean pudding | smitten kitchen I love making pudding. Whenever I feel like having dessert but don't really have anything dessert-y in the house, I make pudding. I think it's easier than people expect it to be.
