mixedmedia ugh. that's not awesome at all.

apparently, the next thing i have to do with the book is deal with the galley. i am not sure how i feel about that. i may have to look at manuscript again myself. i was hoping that there would be an intermediate editorial process that would allow me to react to things rather than have to find them.

Oh man. My inner misogynist is laughing his ass off.

Quick, somebody give me a Rolls Royce and a private jet so I can overcompensate for my small penis!

I sincerely apologize. The above is by far not the most hilarious stupidity going around.

SO tells me 4chan has screwed with Justin Bieber fans, hard.

I also remember how it was a big deal just to have the paper feed through the damn thing properly. (I'm looking at you dot matrix!)

Now it's such an inconvenience simply having to load the paper tray when it runs out.

i've been sorting through boxes of old photos to find one that describes my current mood.
    after a time
of flipping through decades of thoroughly shuffled, glossy and matte finished memories
i heave the box back into the closet , swearing, "never again."

When I was in high school, this was the hottest thing in gaming.

And I'm not afraid to admit it.

I remember one of the über computer nerds handing me a 3.5" floppy and telling me, "Load this up and play it with the lights out: It will scare the shit out of you."

Wow, you are old. ;) I only played DOOM after my husband got a rom of it a couple years ago for our emulator. It's pretty gory.

Unreal Tournament was popular as I was finishing up high school. That's really the only game I remember from high school that other people played...I was secretly playing Age of Empires and Age of Empires II behind closed doors.

"Enough about me... let's talk about me."

    ...

I've officially graduated to Weird Middle-Aged Fucker at the gym. Got a pathetic, moth-eaten hobo beard and I'm wearing a sun-bleached Misfits t-shirt (bonus: it also has the entire right side sewn back together from where it tore apart at work) with my fancy new shorts and running shoes. Saw myself in the mirror on the way out and did one of those romantic comedy-style double takes: "Who's that guy? Jesus. That's me. Mm, I look rough."

Bonus points for still getting laid while looking like this? +1.

Y'all don't know nothin' 'bout nerdy. I've got Spiderweb Software on the horn.

    Check it out, folks:

    Exile: Escape from the Pit

    True story:

I used to nerd-pester the author so much that he actually put me in the sequel... only to have a giant bug butcher me in the first act.

Try playing Wolfenstein 3D on a IBM PS/1 (286 10 Mghz) for a fun time. Moves in "blocks" and of course the bad guys are always in between those areas and impossible to hit.

Best part about the Blake Stone series was buying life-saving items out of vending machines. I still remember that noise.

And all the hideous alien scum.

Haven't thought of that one in years. Rise of the Triad was excellent as well; dog mode was amusing and that thing where you crush everyone with your outstretched hand was great as well.
