    i am considering donning a central asian cavalry hat from the soviet period that i somehow acquired as a halloween costume. it cuts quite a dashing figure driving with it on at night with the top down. the police seem to really like it and often want a closer look.

    I just bought my first Christmas Present.....I don't tend to acknowledge Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but this was an amazing deal that I know my friend will love.

    I was on a very crowded bus home, and I asked a young man to give up his seat for an elderly lady with a cane. I can only describe what followed as a cascade effect of riders offering their seats to anyone who looked over 55 or so. Bystander effect?

    What a day!

    Numerous conference calls and e-mail blasts with city officials in states affected by Hurricane Sandy informing them of emergency recovery resources and supplies (all FEMA compliant) available through a national purchasing cooperative for cities/counties/schools that we sponsor.

    I've been our lead staff on the program since its inception and it is days like this that I think we really make a difference (in addition to savings cities more than $250 million/year on products and services).

    Now I need a drink.
