The real question is why there isn't a TFP convention going on in parallel. Seems obvious in hindsight.

Awesome the laptop hard drive is getting closer to dying and becoming less useful than a Windows Me installation.
I would like to just get a new system but that makes as much sense as replacing a car when the alternator dies.
edit: I see that Windows 7 system restore works nicely

Yes I remember that thread. I have already been told quite bluntly by windows/post level errors that this drive is experiencing problems. And that is not counting the protracted 20 minute times I have been seeing at times for it just to get to a workable windows desktop. The good news is it is giving me time to replace it, and new HDs are not that expensive.
Seriously considering just making this a straight *nix system with this system reboot forced upon me, I can handle losing win7 I think and that falls under a true upgrade on several levels if you ask me.

I love are you being Are You being Served? - two shows that I rank above it are Black Adder (take your pick on what time period or film, they are all good but get better as the years pass) above it but Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, etc are absolutely brilliant and that writing is so sharp.
another show that tops my personal favourite "top three list" is Benny Hill. It just might be apparent here that I have a strong preference for BBC shows, especially the comedies. They typically have that cutting sarcasm that would help out so insipid American shows.

 

Or as I called it Windows Fuck Me. What a piece of shit OS.

 

That earned the line "you make a grown man cry" from the Rolling Stones song used for the highly touted win 95 launch even more than that product.
Of course at that point if you were smart at all you stuck with win 98 or win2000 (or in my case dualboot them) rather than get the worst of both worlds in a package as useful as binoculars to Stevie Wonder or Microsoft BOB.
