Pointless Announcements

The AutoZone guy is just reading trouble codes. They're trained to use a scanner as a sales tool. Don't fall for it. Lot's of things can cause those codes to set. Even one single problem can cause multiple codes to be set. Knowing what kind of car it is, what codes and the sequence of codes can give a clue to the most likely problem. But, further diagnosis is needed to pinpoint the specific issue. Take it to a trained mechanic.

Oh, I missed that, sorry. It's a 2001 Ford Explorer SportTrac. (not my first choice for a car, by the way, but I got a fantastic deal on it that I couldn't turn down.)
