    Nice pic, Speed.

Question to you and other knowledgeable people...
Why do kids color like that? One color for the whole picture? I noticed some of my nieces and nephews did that.
I don't remember doing that. I was all about getting everything colored with different colors, trying for the most realistic looking color scheme while staying in the lines.
Was I just an anal retentive child?

Thank you for posting this, mixed. I hadn't heard yet.
Definitely a great one gone from us.

Here's a pretty good tribute to him from the guys at AICN, if you care to read it.

No water in the house this morning. Maybe my water pump got the memo it's 4-20 and it's been toking all night?

Teenboohead is giving her speech about pit bulls in front of the entire 6th grade class this afternoon. She is adorably nervous.

What kind of speech? What's her angle?

I get to spend most of the weekend with in-laws. Not that I dislike them, but it seems that they only have any desire for interaction when my house makes for a convenient hotel when they want to be in the area for other reasons.

Well, she is purporting that pit bulls have been unfairly maligned because of the media. She is using information from the American Temperament Testing Association that gives pit bulls an 86.8% passing rate while other breeds that are deemed 'safe' such as beagles and border collies and american eskimos score significantly lower. I have found this to be true in regards to my own experiences w. different breeds at work, as well. Her point is that the number of aggressive pit bulls is relatively insignificant and that it is the media that turns every dog attack that happens to involve a pit bull into a virtual lynching of the pit bull's reputation. While dog attacks by other breeds are not reported on at all. The title of her speech is 'Don't Be a Breed Bully!' 'Cause she's clever like that. :)

$10 on pro-pitbull sway speech that showcases how the animals are merely a product of their environment.

    EDIT: Damnit, she beat me.

Why is this so unintentionally racist/hilarious?

maybe because when i think american eskimos i immediately think of dogs and not people.
    i see your point though.
eskimo americans do have such a lengthy history of unchecked aggression.

She does close her speech by saying something along the lines of, 'and remember, there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.'
which isn't exactly true, but, you know, she's 13.

What do you mean? I'm almost always trying to be funny. Even when I'm not. I know it doesn't show.

MM always makes me giggle. And sometimes cackle. So does Niner. You two have more in common than you know....

Is it wrong that I feel a little bummed that I didn't get felt up, nekkid scanned or hand swabbed at the airport? :(

    Cool beans.

Realistically, I think there are some pitbulls that are jacked up because of horrible breeders (inbreeding, breeding for aggression, etc.). But I think that's the minority overall.

One of my best friends has a pit bull that is one of the best behaved, well adjusted dogs I've ever been around. When we got Stanley we purposefully asked him to bring his pit over constantly, partially for socialization, and partially hoping Stanley would imitate his behavior a bit. They got along fabulously. My buddy's pit would let Stanley wrestle with him and would exert just enough energy to not let Stanley get the best of him, but without going all out. It was fun to watch him do that as Stanley went from 15-18lbs and he could handle him easily, until Stanley passed him up in size and eventually could push the pit around due to his 40lbs+ weight advantage. The entire time by buddy's pit was awesome with him.

I also have tons of action shots that, if you saw just the still shot, you'd think they were killing each other. :p

Unfortunately the pit is now pushing 10 years old and is starting to have some joint problems. That, combined with the fact that Stanley is literally almost twice his size now, means they can't play together anymore. However, for the first 12-18 months we had Stanley, they were best friends, and I think it paid off having him around as a sort of mentor/leader for him.

    Probably.

I know I enjoy it when the 40 year old man/he-woman with hands the size of shovels and kielbasa thumbs slaps my junk to give me the "All Clear."
