I want some of that. Too bad I still feel horrendous.

Being sick and horny SUCKS.

 

Honestly, I've kind of missed it this winter. It's been SOOOO incredibly mild. On one hand, since I travel 800-1000 miles/week by car EVERY week, it's nice not to fight snow and ice non-stop like it seemed I was last year. On the other hand, I like having a few good snowstorms every year. It's pretty and it's nice if you can have an extra day every now and then where everything is cancelled and you can stay in and veg without feeling guilty.

 

Shh.....

It's impossible to say. I have a problem these these chip-on-the-shoulder reviewers who prefer to spend most of their words saying what's wrong with a film. They tend to do it so bombastically that when they get around to saying what the film did right, it always comes off as "meh" or "feh."

What did I think? Well, it's Soderbergh. Just when you think you're getting conventional, he goes ahead and throws you a curveball. But at times when you think the film is heading towards brilliance, something sloppy or obvious happens that makes you roll your eyes.

I liked it overall. There are some great ass-kickings, and for the most part Carano didn't come off as a superwoman kicking ass in a man's world. Each fight scene looked like she could have easily gotten taken out. She takes strikes just as much as she gives them, and you're constantly reminded that she's a woman fighting men who likely have at least a 20- or 30-lb. advantage on her. They were pretty well balanced. They were raw and looked mostly real as far as action films go.

Her athleticism made the film work: fighting, running, climbing, you name it. She's also nice to look at from head to toe, and her acting wasn't as wooden as I thought it would be. Not bad for a first lead role. She'll improve with future roles* I think. Better than Steven Seagal.
