    I had a bit of a freak-out last night, thinking the backup for my entire file of images had been corrupted. Not only my immense catalog of found images, but the file for every photograph I have ever taken. I went to bed not knowing, then woke up this morning to find them all safe and sound living on my new computer. Whew.

    External 250G Seagate Hard Drive... backs up my photos and school work every Wednesday morning at 2 am. Because I am that paranoid. They're affordable at CompUSA or whatever they're known as now. I wouldn't have been able to sleep!

    I have 2 external 500gb hard drives and I back up every night. :)
    The problem was with the backup software, or really more accurately, with me not understanding the backup software. I needed my daughter to come in here and show me what I was doing wrong. Because I am computer illiterate like that. :)

    For four years my Comcast cable internet worked great. I had maybe 2-3 days during that time period with trouble, always fixed by a quick phone call or resetting of the modem.

    About three months ago they asked me if I wanted to basically double my speed for $5/month, which would include a new upgraded modem for free. I said sure. Today is the 3-4th service call I've needed since then because of either total loss of access, sporadic access, or barely above dial-up speeds. Awesome upgrade. :eek:

    I use OS X for important things, mostly related to my livelihood.

    I use Windows for fun. It runs my games and movies, the latter through my PS3.

    In my estimate, by the time I decide to replace my current Windows machine, Windows 8 will have been on the market for at least a year or two. :)

    That is, if I ever decide to replace it....

    Of course, with the most recent improvements to the Mac Mini, that's also very viable. I think overall, my demands on a computer for entertainment purposes is diminishing. The PS3 might have something to do with that.
