I think there's something on—or in—my eye that I can see traces of when I'm reading something on screen with a white background, and it's freaking me the fuck out.

Yeah, five hours of sleep. I am going to need a nap. Too bad I don't have time for one.

  7. I like other people's dogs...when they aren't jumping on me or slobbering on me. I would much prefer the disdain of a cat over the neediness of a dog.

I thought that might be it, but I know I've seen those before and this looks different.

I made an appointment to see my optometrist on Monday. I needed to go in for my yearly vision exam anyway.

I have both a dog and three cats in my home and I question the accuracy of that old claim that cats are less needy than dogs. They are about the same as far as I can tell.

I suspect that a pet's needs are based just as much on what they can expect as they are on their nature.

    Great.

I have to replace the HVAC flow actuator in my car. Good news is that I can do it for like $60 instead of paying $200 to have somebody else do it. The bad news is that the procedure involves suspending myself upside down and using my big toes to steady a wrench I'm holding with my left nostril.

Anybody else miss the cars of the '70s and early '80s where you could replace basically everything quite easily because it was right out in the open?

I really wish my lab had clear book of protocols for microscopy procedures. Then we wouldn't all be starting from scratch every 5 years someone decides to do something... they're supposedly outlined in people's dissertations, but there's invariably something crucial left out. I just want their old notebooks. Bleh.

It's only cheap because I'm willing to disassemble the radio compartment and glovebox as well as borrow the specialty tools from a buddy of mine.

You know why most people love going to the mechanic? Because cars aren't just magical contraptions maintained by the bloody-knuckled dregs of society, no, they're magical contraptions put together by 2' gnomes with 9" fingers. That's the only way to explain most Japanese car designs.

Humanistic and Existential psychologists say "fuck".
    Statistical/research oriented psychologists say "crap".
You learn something new all the time.
    So glad I'm existential.

Yeah, but you can leave a cat unattended for a weekend... no worries.

You leave a dog alone for a weekend? It'll go all Castaway on you.
