I just got my sanity back.

Or at least to the level it was.

I'm kind of optimistic since I'm hoping this means it'll actually get fixed instead of just another cortisol shot.

My Son started showing me videos and articles of the dark world of conspiracy. The petro dollar, the federal reserve the 9/11 attack with the Bush administration. He seems completely convinced that there is a world operating system other than the one I live in. Some of it is starting to make me think about it while I'm running my machine. I am sure that the rulers of the world don't tell us squat. Central and world banks and the NWO New World Order. Now he's off on the illuminati. As far as I know he may be right and I could be the blind one.

    In that way lies madness.
It's fun as a form of entertainment but the minute you start taking it serious you will disappear down down a rat hole never to be seen again by sane folks.

It's a given that the people at the top lie but I learned a long time ago to never give credit to malevolence what could just as easily be explained by stupidity and incompetence.

There are absolutely a great many unkosher goings on involving world governments, petrodictatorships, multinational megacorporations, and the like. The thing is none of them are particularly romantic conspiracies, it's all just run of the mill grift and embezzlement. Pay out a few million in "campaign contributions" and get a bill written by your in-house counsel removing some pesky regulations passed by congress, no-bid government contracts, a greater influx of petrodollars tends to lead to a lower human rights index in petrodictatorships, that sort of thing.

Fundamentally conspiracy theories are about meaning. Things don't just happen because a lot of people are independently corrupt and profit-hungry, they're being coordinated by a single group for a specific reason.

In the summer of '15 we had an epic hailstorm here. The biggest pieces were confirmed at 5", and there were consistent golf ball sized pieces that fell for 45 minutes. I've posted video and other detail, and it essentially meant everyone on my side of town got a new roof, and many got new siding, screens, fascia, and gutters. A handful of neighbors waited close to the max amount of time before making a claim (one year for most policies IIRC), so they didn't file until this summer. My guess is that they put it off as long as they could to see which contractors did good work, and to postpone the clock on when the roof was new. Anyway, while 90% of the houses were done last year, a few have been getting done in the last couple of months. One of my neighbors is having is roof put on today. The temps are in the mid-40s and it is cloudy and breezy. Doesn't sound like a fun time to me. And this late in the year I'd be a little worried about the shingles getting enough heat to stick well. On the other hand, maybe the work crews are happy to have work this late in the year.

I wonder if they could apply a blowtorch-type tool to heat them up for a short time.

We knew a couple back when we were active in our civic club. In August, with temps easily hitting 100F and higher, the guy did his entire roof by himself. And that included installing all new plywood. Their house was single story, probably around 2,500 square feet + the attached two car garage.

They do that for many commercial applications on flat roofs. Not sure if that would work on residential or not.

When I was in my late teens I spent most of one year doing roofing and siding. Roofing isn't too bad if you are in shape, though I wouldn't want to do it long term. Tearing off is horrible IMO.

Lindsey Stirling is an incredible artist. She's grown so much as a performer and musician in just a few years and her choreography, production, and music are absolutely beautiful.

And she's an absolute sweetheart who gave the handful of us that waited around outside hugs and autographs at damn near midnight after her show.

I watch it, (I'm a glutton for punishment, it seems) but it barely resembles MacGyver.

My wife will & does watch just about any TV drama, no matter how totally bad it is; she has the ability to "put her brain in neutral." She likes the new MacGyver because of George Eads, a carryover crush from the original CSI.

My shit list of the top three network TV dramas matches my wife's list of favorite programs: Hawaii Five-O, NCIS LA, & MacGyver.
