This is cool! And also hot! Perhaps the answer to a question no one ever asked.

I had never seen or heard of a steam powered clock before.

    Leave it to those Canadians...

The end is especially good... come on, it's only a minute and a half...

Ha! I thought at first it was the Close Encounters theme, @Lindy .
That was neat, thanks for posting it.

I don't know what Hallmark channel is. Like, the greeting card company?

I liked Deadpool but I can definitely see how it wouldn't be for everyone. My mother wanted to see it, oddly, but I told her that I didn't think it would be her kind of humour so I don't know if she ever saw it. It's on Netflix now so maybe.

I love Deadpool. It's my inner voice in antihero movie format.

The antiheroes are too much with us; late and soon...
(Who knows what a Word's worth, when so out of tune?)

Deadpool actually has a rather sweet love story buried in the third wall breaking wise cracks and killings.
There is a rather conventional moral of communicating with the people you love instead of avoiding sharing your problems and even people who are deeply broken can find someone.
I think that is part of the reason the movie did so well, it's not just a standard super hero movie with dick jokes.
That and it has strong female characters to go with the male ones.
I can understand that it might not be your thing but your could be surprised.

So Matthew moved east a few miles and downgraded to cat3, which has spared Orlando from the 75+mph winds and 8+ inches of rain we were originally expecting. Unfortunately the coast is still getting absolutely pummelled by 80-100mph winds and flooding. Thankfully my friends out there who got trapped and couldn't evacuate are alive. So far. It's a slow moving storm that's just broadsiding us all the way up to Jax.

Jax Beach is devastated in some areas. Parts of Vilano and Ponte Vedra Beaches washed away. Trees are down all over Jax. The Action News cams are nuts. Half the pier is gone.

So, I was browsing YT videos when I came across a vid on how to make a primitive atlatl, (which is a stick with a small hook on the end that attaches to a spear to make it throw further) and after watching the vid, I read some of the comments until I came across this one...

A neighboring town has a massive farmer's/craft market once a month. Usually around 150 separate vendors. Produce, crafts, antiques, pork, beef, cheese, clothes, honey, homemade dog treats, all kinds of stuff. People come from far and wide to display and sell stuff, even the Amish from a community about 100 miles away come over and set up a tent with baked goods. Today was the last one of the season, so I decided to head over there and took Stanley to wander around with me. I can't count the number of people who stopped us to pet him, let their kids climb all over him, or talk to him. Before we left I took him to the dog treat vendor and let him pick a couple of things out. I made him balance a 3' bully stick on his nose for everyone. Fun way to spend a Sat AM.

I was in Target grocery shopping and I saw some peanut butter like crap that also had goji, Chia seeds, and some other hipster crap. It claimed to be a super food. It also cost 9 dollars for a few ounces. It made me think about the original superfood, and still unmatched, beef. It tastes better than any claimed new superfood (kombucha?!),it has proven results, and has the real protein that the human body needs. So if you want to be super, eat the best to be the best.

Just polished off an 18oz bone-in ribeye prior to seeing this post.

We'll, I ate most of it. Stanley finished off the rest.

I get annoyed every time some food writer or nutritionist uses the term "superfood" just because something comes from slightly off of the beaten path. The other day I saw this recipe that added sweet potatoes to red chili. That may be fine (or not) but then she had to call sweet potatoes a superfood.

    Arrrg!

I'll vote for beef also, although a good pork roast is hard to beat.

    Go you!
Though I'm old enough to be your mum, we are in very similar spots right now in discovering how to dress our smaller selves. I'm slowly rebuilding my wardrobe as I've sized down and it is pretty exciting. It's a process of discovery with little victories and frustrations, too. Sizing is so confusing! I too, was never below a size 12 before. Depending on if a clothing line does junior sizing or American sizing, my range for tops and jackets now goes from a woman's medium to junior's XL.

Sizes are lies. Even in menswear a 30" waist can vary by several inches in either direction depending on the manufacturer and cut, the numbers don't mean anything.

Also my thumb is, thankfully, not in fact broken. Just severely sprained. It was probably the inflatable water slide that did it but the volleyball likely didn't help. Or for that matter doing Flags, although surprising everyone by holding 90deg facing either way was kinda fun.

The previous owner of our home left behind a mechanical pencil. My favorite model. All of mine broke long ago, and I have been unable to find them. I am a happy writer today.

Ugh! My arms feel like they've been in an all-day hugging contest with another fat man.
I spent an hour manually deflating pool toys and mattresses. I'm all hugged out.
I wonder if this is what a bagpiper feels like after a hefty practice session, except without the eerie music.

While my thumb isn't broken I think relying on my "good" arm may have finally torn my rotator cuff, if it wasn't already. I can't even buckle my seatbelt anymore and popping multiple tylenol or advil doesn't touch the pain, which is impressive considering I recovered from surgery with nothing but 1 tylenol a night.
