I was raised that you NEVER put another book on top of the bible :)rolleyes:). The one & only bible that I own* usually has several books piled on top of it.

    * A large leather bound family bible, much like the one my mother has, which wasn't cheap new, for $1.00 at a thrift store. I got it for the large print, and only use it to research bible quotes that I run across is my eclectic readings.

If the bible is infallible (yes, some people still believe that), how does one explain Leviticus?
If Leviticus isn't meant to be taken literally (even keeping in mind the much different social times at which it was written), then the bible isn't infallible.

Our air conditioner finally bit it. It was in the 40s last week. It's currently 79.2*F in my house at 2030. No air until Thursday.... I foresee many hours at work this week.

I am in the middle of a storm warning with blowing winds and fairly heavy snow. Killed this day of auto sales and tomorrow as well. Storm warning doesn't end until noon tomorrow.

We're in a blizzard warning until tomorrow night. For now its 35 degrees, rain/sleet mix with occasional thunder, and really gusty. Supposed to turn to blowing snow and 40mph wind later tonight.

$4k to replace the system, $1500 more IF they need to replace the 70' of copper line to the outdoor unit. No motels in the budget atm. I may sleep in the living room where there's a glass door and ceiling fan tomorrow. It's down to 76, finally.

Some friends are lending us fans. Hopefully the install will be all we need for Thursday. The lines run through the attic, above another unit and down the inside of the building somewhere. They'll have to go outside the building, which will require board approval, so I'm crossing fingers re: not replacing the lines. Kinda worried about hubs working from home. :/

So sorry to hear that, I remember what it was like to have ours go down in July in NJ.
    Worse couple of days ever.

Had a reported 11.5 inches of snow here. So of course I had to exchange my girls with my ex. Then got to work. Then my calendar went off alerting me that I had motions at 9a. And it was 0830. Motions was about 20 miles away. Fortunately there were very few people on the road, so I was able to maintain 40-50 mph on snowpacked interstates. Motions went smoothly, now back at the dealership to twiddle my thumbs because no one buys cars with snow on the roads.

Got nominated to go to two local conferences/conventions. I get to schmooze with politicians at one, and at the other, I get to be a politician! Exciting!

I may also get to go to our nation's capitol for the national convention, but we only send two reps, and I'm pretty low on the chain.

If you schmooze with the mayor of Tualatin, tell him I said hi! :) We go back a long way together and he is currently on our board of directors.

And I know the best places to schmooze in DC!

  17. So this place is rather dead these days. Don't you people know you have a duty to entertain me....

Me: "I think that's why they call it good old games."

And yeah, things have been uncharacteristically quiet around here lately, even for us.

It's supposed to snow here next week. I'm dying laughing.

The air conditioner is almost installed. It's still 84* in the condo.
