Local election today Tuesday. After due consideration, I voted Democrat for Mayor, Republican for city council, Republican for school board, and one of each for airport authority.

Social democrats sweeping to victory in Alberta after nearly 44 years of majority conservative rule is absolutely surreal. I'm still reeling over the implications.

This changes everything. It will have an impact on the federal election this fall at least to some degree. Despite common political divides between levels of government in Canada, Alberta typically sends delegates to federal parliament to support their provincial interests.

The Conservatives cannot afford to lose Alberta to the NDP federally. The NDP have already won over Quebec.

    It seems anything is possible.

One thing remains true: Albertans don't vote; they stampede.

Random odd question (the kind you think of when you watch a show on a daily basis and can recite some of them off the top of your head)
If you were stuck on a satellite and forced to watch bad movies would you rather
    a) see them by yourself with control over where they begin and end
    or
    b) Use those special parts to make robot friends to accompany you through drek like Mitchell or Space Mutiny. Or Time Chasers for that matter.

I considered that type of action for Star Wars Episode II but somehow managed to sit through the whole thing.

I'd just be glad that I wouldn't have to worry about what I'd have to eat or breath and other science facts.

I love it when the writers throw in an oddball reference, especially when it's obscure (and I happen to catch it).

My SO is away on my birthday today because she's on a field trip until tomorrow night.

She did, however, have it in her heart to send me a "party package" for tonight's geek night. It's was filled with roasted peanuts, various chocolate, buffalo bleu cheese potato chips, and craft beer.

That's 3.5 L (just under a gallon) of craft beer.

Anyone see that guy from France , he is 72 and was going on dating sites saying he was a 25 year old model . But get this the women he dated had to meet him blind folded . (how the fuck would that work ? ) Anyway his date realized it was a con ( probably smelt the stale piss from his bills ) and under French law he is being prosecuted for surprise rape ? (WTF call me old fashioned but isn't any form of rape a surprise ) I suppose the surprising part of this case is he could get a erection at his age . That was in the papers so it must be true , mustn't it ? . what a fucked up world .

No, that's the point of Pointless Announcements. What you say may not have anything to do with what previous posters have said, and that's totally cool. I did see that case of extreme catfishing. It sounded totally gross, and left me wondering why the fuck anyone would agree to that.
