There is nothing like vintage Black Sabbath when you are in a mood, best if it's off vinyl.

Amazing conference in Bali. Learning so much about this massive organization I work for, including that I am high up the food chain. Weird.

Colleague at work just asked if I want to go see a matinee tomorrow of a new play about Supreme Court Justice Scalia (and a fictitious liberal law clerk and focusing on his position in the 2013 Defense of Marriage Act case).

I thought it sounded interesting until she mentioned $75 for standing room only ticket.

    I passed.

just got home and had dinner, been gone for over a week. My woman friend went to Plano to visit her daughter and grandson so I pet set. I really don't mind because she's awesome and I Love her. Her daughter is going through a divorce from a guy that uses meth. I just don't get some men.

Floridians are some of the most embarrassing fake Irish men ever on this day. We usually do Mexican food on St. Pats and Irish on Cinco de Mayo. To avoid a level of idiocy surpassed by few.

Our wedding anniversary is this weekend.

I just ordered a huge batch of spring flowers to be delivered to my wife's office today.

Two factors go into that decision.

One, ALWAYS ALWAYS order the flowers to be delivered somewhere that allows her to show them off and brag about them.
Two, if you send them early in the week she can shove them in everyone's face for several days before taking them home to enjoy.

Am I right ladies? Or am I right?

Same goes for some men. My dad always loved getting flowers from my mom at school so he could show them off and the secretaries could ooh and aah over how awesome my mom was. Of course, she also gave the secretaries all kinds of treats throughout the year.

    I don't think I've ever gotten flowers.

They aren't my thing, so I don't care, but I can't recall ever getting them.

They're not really my dad's thing either, but he worked in an office with a lot of women around, so it became something he enjoyed--plus, I think it was more about my mom giving them than anything.

I should probably put on clothing now that I'm finished with my post-gym shower, especially since the lawn guys are right outside my windows, but I don't care.

    Flowers delivered.

First words out of her coworker's mouth? "Wow, he goes big huh?"

I'm guessing that will pay off nicely later tonight. :p

For years, since "Roots" first appeared in the US, my mother has been dutifully documenting our family tree. In all those years all I've ever heard about is a long list of criminals, insane folks and criminally insane folks. On a recent trip to Oregon we had a memorial service for my great great aunt those Can of ashes, along with several hundred cans of ashes, were found at the State Hospital for the mentally ill (same place they filmed "One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest") Yesterday during a phone conversation she began telling me about another distant relative she just learned about. He did time in several state and federal prison, mostly for theft and bigamy. I asked her why all our ancestors were either crazy or criminals. She told me "oh, we have many famous and upstanding ancestors, I just find the more colorful ones more interesting." "Ok, so who are these famous ancestors?" "People like Thomas Miner, George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, J.D. Rockefeller, folks like that." "I'm a distant (very distant) decedent of our first President and the Rockefeller family and you didn't think I'd find that interesting?" "Didn't think you cared about any of this." Which is kind of true, more worried about who I am and what I'm doing then what people in my family line did before I was even born. She sent me links on ancestry.com and sure enough under "descendants of" on each person's page there is my mother, father, brother and me... buried in the middle of thousands of other names of people I never of before." After learning this I had two thoughts- do I really care more about the subject now? And I wonder if I showed up at the Rockefeller's main home (is there a main home?) if they'd at least let me enjoy a cocktail next to the pool?"
