    S is enamoured with our new-to-us KitchenAid artisan mixer. I am enjoying the pizza crust and pancakes.
    Later, I shall make some thumbprint cookies and mini-meatloaves so that I can play with the mixer, too.
    I anticipate we are going to get fat(ter). Maybe we should have bought a salad shooter...

    You can buy a Salad Shooter type attachment for the KA. I love mine: http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-RVSA-Slicer-Shredder-Attachment/dp/B00004SGFP

    I got mine combined with the food grinder, and we used all of the attachments extensively during canning season for tomato sauce, applesauce, slicing cucumbers for pickles, etc. The shredder is great for shredding cabbage or carrots or cheese (for all those pizzas).

    For small quantities, I use a knife. I have a sweet chef's knife. For larger quantities, it doesn't make sense to spend the amount of time it would take me to use my knife over the KA attachment.
