The Darth Vader thing was a random youtube find.
The other one I thought of instantly. That was from George's last filmed public appearance 6-7 months before his final heart attack. Due to significant health problems he was no longer the powerhouse bass he was during the 50 years he was in music groups (most noticeably The Cathedrals), but he still fully had his sense of humour.

This was George in April 1999 when the Cathedrals were on their retirement tour. He was going strong so to speak at this point at least vocally. George and Glenn were retiring due to the increasing problems George was having with his kidneys and heart, but Glenn died first just six months after this of cancer.

Reading some BL/yaoi manga and came across this gem: "It's as bad as having three fingers in" accompanied by a translator's note saying the translator is unsure of the meaning. I nearly spewed my drink across the room. How does a translator of works where anal sex is de rigeur not know what that means?

Also, it perpetually cracks me up that the bottom is always so sore and weak the next morning, complete with aching back. Wimps.

I met the most wonderful girl today at CostCo...while going to get some dinner.
Long dark straight hair, small & slightly perky.
She was wandering the aisles in front of me...with the most intriguing way of sauntering, legs crossing periodically, while musing the sights...

She stopped in front of me, surprising me almost bumping into her.
She excused herself, saying openly and happily that she was distracted being in CostCo for the first time.
We struck up a conversation, me finding out that she's new to the area from the other coast.
A lovely friendly smile, easy to talk to...perfect dark eyebrows and wonderfully alive brown eyes...all behind a pair of black framed glasses.

I asked her name and introduced myself.
And we didn't have much to immediately talk on more, so we excused ourselves...going separate ways, me hoping to bump into her one more time before I left. (I was hungry...and it wasn't holding)
And I've never been one to followup or followthru very well.

Fortunately, we did "bump" into each other one more time...after I had picked up my items...and noted where she was again.
I happened one more time near her...asked if she was finding it all well...and gave her my business card in the hopes that she may be interested. (she still smiling and friendly all the while, so I wasn't annoying)
She took it gladly and noted my title...and said she was in Computers herself...with me then inquiring what type of role she was in it.
I offered to be of assistance, being a contact for new IT connections and gigs in the area.
And she asked me if this was also my personal number...and I said it was for both, including my business.
I didn't have a good continuing topic...nor did I want to be more pushy.
I wish I had my father's gift of charm and comfort...
So I let it go...we parted ways, her smiling and cheerfully saying goodbye.

I don't know if I'll see her again...and it's unlikely that I'll hear from her.
    My luck isn't that way...
But I'm still thinking what a grand combination - beauty, casual comfort, open friendliness, enjoying conversation and intelligent & a geek as a bonus.
However, it put a smile on my face on an otherwise dreary and boring day.
And sometimes we just have to enjoy those little moments and meetings.

    It's pointless...but it's still on my mind.

You don't want to know the image that jumped into my head when I read that.
Let's just say it involved a barbershop quartet, a tarp and oil.

I'm such a nerd. I'm watching the run-up to the State of the Union, eagerly anticipating watching the faces of Joe Biden and John Boehner while the president speaks.

it just occurred to me... "heart of glass" by blondie would make a really sweet bluegrass cover.

(and no, i am not in a bluegrass band)

You need to make this happen.
Preferably with Allison Krauss or Gillian Welch singing.

Don't be fooled by Krauss' pop-ish recordings. She and Union Station can, have, and do some serious old school bluegrass. The members of Union Station are some of the finest musicians around, not just in the bluegrass genre, & Krauss can play a mean fiddle.

This is just about perfect. An inch or two of snow, so it all looks nice. But no wind, and it's warm enough the roads aren't icing over. And in two or three days it'll be melted. :p

Their goal was $10,000. They hit over $2.1 million. It's only been a couple of days. There are 29 days to go.
