My initial google search found images of donuts with this idea using icing but I knew that using a screencap from the actual film would look much better. Espcially with a non-edible digital image.

Taking my mother in for a check up to make sure she's recovering correctly. If today goes as planned I'll be on a flight home Monday morning.

Feeling better...didn't feel so hot last night after driving home after the meetup.

Good times, but my bod was fuckin' with me...for no good reason. (not during, but after)

At least I got to test out my new dog walker before my new gig starts...that was good.

Now, to get on with things...life continues.

Starting a new gig tomorrow...I'll find out if I can even let you know where.

But first, let's also see if it's any good...you never know with these govt. merc jobs.
I've had a few that I've left after 2 weeks.
And I've had a couple that have disappeared before I even walked in the door.

    1 week
    1 month
    3 months
    6 months
    1 year
    2 years...you've been there "forever"

    At least it's in a good area...so that's a decent indicator...but you never know.

Got the go-ahead...Department of Treasury, DC...Office of Financial Research.

Spent the whole day friggin' going thru security shit and getting access...chasing down everyone who says they want me to work...then are nowhere to be found to allow it. SSDD.

And now I don't even know if I'm the right fit....my new company misrepresented what the role was. (not intentionally...but neglectfully or thru miscommunication)
The original spec...no prob...I can slam dunk that.
But the environ is partially on a platform I haven't worked with for a few years...so I'm quickly going to have to reorient. (hope noone calls me on it quick...they are paying for a "SME")
And then they're currently asking for a code version I really haven't worked with extensively...no mention of it in their spec...none whatsoever.
So, I'm going to have to quickly train myself...hopefully they have some pre-existing design I can use as a template...and tweak it and wing it from there.

Nice place, nice people...it just not making me feel the warm & fuzzies.
I'm going to have to figure out what they want me to do first...which they haven't decided yet.
So, I'm going to have to encourage them to give me the slam dunk stuff first...do a tap-dance and give me some breathing room to get into the not-so-hot shit...get oriented on it.
Fortunately, the big guy noted an emphasis on the slam dunk stuff...so that may go my way.

Have to warn my company, the next guy should have this in his tool-kit...otherwise they're screwed. (I can wing it...they may not)

Why can't it ever be fuckin' easy??
This isn't complaining and bitchin'...it just is.

I shall hopefully be picking up a manual typewriter "locally" (60-70 miles) in the next day or two. Looked around here in actual close driving distance to no avail but the $35 for a 1970ish West German model in good condition according to the ebay pictures and description was a winner. Not paying shipping or more importantly hoping it does not get destroyed in that process is a bonus as well.

This sounds more worthy of the thread dedicated to the show but this works well enough. I saw a headline about this breaking bad spinoff having a teaser trailer out. Not interested in watching the trailer but the series does sound interesting.
If I care to make an attempt with free streaming websites I could actually watch this show in almost "real time" when it does air. Should I just watch this prequel/spinoff first in my mostly clueless state about the main show? I only have seen the pilot a few years ago but do know it involves the type of chaos/killing you would expect from drug dealing and various criminal types. More importantly Bryan Cranston has an awesome haircut/beard combo at some point which is enough for me to watch the show in its right.
Could be interesting seeing Breaking Bad from the start knowing some of the back story of the greasy lawyer type. How does a high school teacher balance making/seling meth, dealing with rivals who would just as soon as put a bullet in your head, and having a home life with the spouse? Sounds like you would have bad thugs showing at the school at some point or at least waiting for you in the parking lot.

Woke up sideways across the bed, tangled up in the sheets, from a dream about searching my parents' neighborhood for carambolas to make ice cream, by a cat knocking everything onto the floor in my bedroom. At 4:18 am. Talk about feeling out-of-sorts.
