1991 became a long time ago about the same time that those of us who were sitting in 1991 thinking that 1971 was a long time ago.

Here's something to think about: As Jimi Hendrix was to me, Kurt Cobain is to my son. The distance in time from each event, is roughly the same.

For anyone who is 20 years old or younger, 1993 is another era.

Cracks me up, there's a keno commercial running on television here for the state lottery that features one of my high school English teachers.

I do most of the grocery shopping. Getting my wife to grocery shop on her own is like trying to mate reluctant elephants, it's a total PITA and takes forever to get results. I might come home with a couple of unnecessary items, but my wife comes home with many unnecessary items.

Typically, I do too, but sometimes I HAVE TO HAVE something at night because a craving has struck, and he's usually willing to go get whatever it is for me.

You know what weirds me out. I was Bart Simpsons "age" when I first started to watch The Simpsons with my brothers. Now I'm closer to Homer's age.
(I hate that they redid Homer and Marge's origin story)

A meteorologist on one of our local TV stations uses a graphic that breaks down our rain chances by the hour.

Our rain chances today at mid-afternoon is 260%.

    Subject-verb agreement, man.

It's the best kind of day--Friday AND payday, though today I got my last paycheck from school for this year :(

It should be chance. My brain was thinking rain chances because the graphic showed several different percentages.

Some alternate responses, not to be taken seriously (JIC someone gets the wrong impression):

    Pppppppfffffffttttttt!

"Screw you! That was funny!" (borrowed from an episode of The Big Bang Theory).

I'm a substitute teacher, so I don't have a contract. Here, contracts are 180 days, and depending on the district, teachers can choose to receive 10 months worth of paychecks or 12. Due to budget cuts and constraints, more districts are pushing towards 10 months.

Even here in Ontario, full-time teachers are paid a lump sum at the end of the school year to carry them through the summer, but it comes out to less than what they'd be paid normally month to month. We have to budget more carefully through the summer, which can be hard when one of us is off work for several weeks. :D

However, Ontario teachers have a starting salary of around $50,000, and after ten years, they can make over $80,000. It's my understanding that this is greater than many (most?) U.S. states.

$50,000 is JUST over what a teacher in inner city London would get, plus they get incentives and benefits
