My excuses are a.) grad school, b.) I'm alternative, man, and c.) grad school.

 

I have read books by many of those authors (e.g., Edna Ferber, Saul Bellow, Philip Roth, William Faulkner, Booth Tarkington, Anne Tyler, Sinclair Lewis, Louis Bromfield), but the only two books on that list that I specifically remember having read all the way through are To Kill A Mockingbird and All the King's Men.

 

So, what you're telling me is that you're knockin' 'em off your trousers with a rolled up issue of Lapham's Quarterly?

It's been quasi-legal for some time ever since the courts said they weren't going to prosecute anything that didn't involve growing or selling.
There was an episode of Alaska State Troopers where he pulls over a truck for a broken tail light where the driver has a Glock and an ounce on the front seat.
The trooper lets the guy go with a warning.
In Jersey there would be fifty cops swarming in and the driver would probably do as many years in jail.

As to slothful dopeheads I've known business owners, firefighters (smokejumpers - the most badass kind), construction workers, and whole range of very high intensity workers who smoke pot on a regular basis, even soldiers.
Comes from growing up in a state where it's easy to get and nobody cares if you do I guess.

 

When did you move to Texas? Oh, wait, here that would "communist welfare liberals," not "socialist leeches," and "guhvurnmeent," not "gummit." "Suckling" would throw a lot of folks for a loop.
