I am done with work for the year! Finally!

 

Plant explosion 12 miles from my office. Clouds of hcl gas prompted shelter warning and openings. Scary shit. Luckily, the wind was out of the south. Or we'd have been fucked.

 

Holy shit. HCl is nasty stuff. Glad the wind was with you.

 

Yeah, 4 or 5 schools went on high alert. They were within the fallout zone. Luckily, they got the fire under control quickly. A transport vehicle full of HCl and vinyl something caught fire and assploded.

 

I only had one close unprotected encounter with the gaseous stuff, following a lab mishap. Not a pleasant experience at all. I hope no one was seriously hurt.

 

Hey, if I might ask where in general dd this leak/spill occur? I think my daughter is in the same area of the country as you and I can't find any news what so ever.

They got it under control really quickly, so they lifted the shelter order within 30 minutes, but... damn.

Never actually had any of those while I was there. Although almost everyone had a story about them, though, and about someone they knew who died in one.

 

Begs the question- what's worse "job killing regulations" or "lack of regulations that kill?"
