Packing to go home. It's time.

It's been a very busy two weeks.

 

Apparently the only thing that I need to get me out of a funky mood is to get laid.

Wave pendulum. [VIDEO]

Can someone explain why the pendulums behave that way? ^

 

That is pretty damned cool and I have no idea why. I'm sure someone here will, though.

 

Lying in bed. Cat perched on my shoulder. A little afraid to get up. I was Miss Drunky last night. Miss Drunky had a lot of fun and danced her ass off. Miss Drunky might lose a sizable portion of this day to a hangover.

I'm hungry. I want breakfast.

frater mio's birthday dinner with the many red wines included a watching of the very tense red sox-tigers game.
this morning is largely its fetid afterglow.

From the top view, it looks like all of the pendula are the same length, but here's what that apparatus looks like from the side:



Because all of the pendula are at different lengths, they will swing at different 'speeds' and will produce that wave-like effect.

The lengths of each pendulum are not random; they've been calculated and intentionally built this way in order for them to produce this effect.

I feel betrayed! Lied to, even.
I thought there was some unknown phenomena involved, but it was that darn trickster Science.

 

Whoa. Max had me up at 5 and 7... so I fed them and those monsters let me sleep untill 11:30.
Unfortunately, I woke up congested and feeling funky. Too many planes in to few days?

Home again! Luggage was lost but is now en route to me.

Off again on Friday - this time to spend the weekend with my wife.

11 year old me would never believe I have this sort of life.

‘Swino’ the feral pig went on a drunken adventure after reportedly consuming 18 cans of beer (Picture: Main Roads Pilbara)
A feral pig that lived life in the fast lane has died only a month after he was accused ofdrinking 18 cans of beer and fighting a cow.
The loveable rogue was killed after being struck by a car in the northern Pilbara region of Australia.
Fans of ‘Swino’ will remember him for raiding a campsite for alcohol and taking on an animal twice his size in an epic bender that saw him end up asleep under a tree.
Tributes have poured in for the rebel pig after his death was announced.
Twitter user C R Booth wrote: ‘Rest in peace you beautiful, brawling swine. May your enemies in heaven fall swiftly under your hooves.’
Ottolenghi added: ‘Will be thinking of you, Swino…. Boozy feral pig dies in car accident.’
RIP ‘Swino’.






Sounds like he led a full life - would have liked to have seen him squaring up to the cow after 18 cans of beer.

 

I am the only one in the lab. I don't know where Dr. Dickhead is, but I like this.

 

sitting around in a morning of freedom. i never liked being a functionary in the electronic library of babel. i'm pleased to be out of there. starting to think about next moves. curiously, a maximum program occurs to me, how to rig things up so i can do what i actually do and be materially viable. looking toward the future. it's a curious thing.
